The tenth number from the left is the model year code in the VIN. This is an auto/motorcycle industry standard. Yours is a "4", you have a 2004 model. Congrats and enjoy.

Yes, I have ridden 7000 miles since Aug. 13. A trip to Deadwood, SD, 3,800 miles mostly 2 up with luggage. My job requires me to travel most days at least 100 miles on a good day twice that much (what a great job, no we don't have any openings!!).

I purchased a set of Dunlop D404's for my '99 RSV on Aug. 13, 2007, (should have read the posts on this site!!) prior to my trip to Deadwood, SD. Since then I have traveled 7,000 miles and the rear is worn down the the indicator marks.

 

I talked with the Service folks a Riders Edge Yamaha in Gettysburg, PA (a dealer that I know and trust). They tell me the D404 provided through the Yamaha Parts system is made of a different compound than the "over the counter/after market" D404 and should last longer.

 

Does anyone have any input/information about the Yamaha vs. Aftermarket D404?

Check out the volume on the intercom. I run mine about 7 or 8. At 15 I can hear the engine and wind noise. The mike is always open and could be picking up the horn. The higher the volume the more the back ground noise.

[SeaFoam, being a bit of a skeptic..........]

I tried SeaFoam in my ’99 RSV this week. After seeing the rave revues of the product here in the forum I said “Why not?” Within 15 miles I felt a noticeable increase in power. My records indicate that I had been averaging just over 37 mpg. On the first tank with SeaFoam I got 40 mpg and on the next tank without SeaFoam I got just over 40 mpg. I talked with my friend Scott Bartley of Knuckleheads Motorcycle Center, an independent sales, repair and self-service shop, here in Chambersburg, PA. He deals mainly in used motorcycles and aftermarket parts. He tells me that one of the first steps in preparing a used cycle for sale it adding SeaFoam to the fuel, especially one that has been setting for a while. What a great product, thanks to all the forum members for relating their stories about it.

When I talked to Scott yesterday he recommended another product that the forum members should be aware of. Has anyone tried Bike Brite? Just spray it on and hose it off with a strong stream. I was amazed by how it made the chrome, paint and vinyl shine. The windscreen needed a quick wipe with a soft towel to remove the last of a weeks worth of bugs and I just towel dried the rest. Bolt Pattern= 6 bolts @ 215.9mm BC

Thickness= 6.9mm
