  1. Stuck in Glendive,Mt. for the holiday weekend, due to problems with the load for Calgary.

Called up Norm, and he and his wife picked me up and we went to dinner.....

Awesome folks and had a great time.......Thanks guys.:thumbsup2:

And yes Carl,I know I make more M&E's with the truck, then I do with the bike..:rasberry:

So,it looks like I won't deliver in Calgary till wednsday morning....:bang head:

  2. He has been running around the area with these little, old engines. Quite cool actually. But he isn't riding as much as before.

    RR

After throwing the tennis ball for our dog Harley for a couple of hours,he left here saying he was going to build a tennis ball launcher using a hit and miss engine..

    Can't wait.....:thumbsup2:

  3. Dan go back further and you will see that Harley sold or made a deal to Japan to build the bike there. Japan had bought the rights and machinery to make the bike ,but not under the Harley name plate. This was in the early to late 30's. Harley polled the plug when Japan invaded China in 38 or 39.

    See,I learn new things everyday.

Sure I'm glad I got the Interweb instead of those encyclopedias..:whistling:

  4. 1. First,nobody can argue about Willie G. being a marketing guru.

Right or wrong, the Harley lifestyle is important to their customers. Get over it...

2.If you look back in history,in the late '70's,Harley developed 12 proto-type bikes called "The Nova Project".

Built in conjunction with Porsche, they were V4 water cooled with belt drive.

Willie G.'s only blunder of his career, was thinking that this bike would drive a wedge between HD and it's hardcore customers..

3.The other reason the program was scrapped, was at that time,HD was cash poor after buying the company back from AMF and spending millions building the EVO platform.

Now think about this for a minute.

The '70's and '80's were the big "Buy American" years.

IMHO,if HD would have seen this project thru,it's very possible Harley would have captured 90% or better of the motorcycle market.

They would have had a bike for everybody.

We could all be riding Harleys...:whistling:

If your ever in Milwaukee, stop at the HD museum and you can see one of the 12 proto-types on display.

It's orion silver and blue like my '87 and looks like a cross between a MK1 and a early Goldwing..Pretty cool.

    IMHO,HD blew it big time.

Now if I could afford it,would I buy another Harley? You bet....:happy34:

Would I get rid of our 1st Gen...Nope....:happy34:

  5. Sounds like a sit-com about harleys:witch_brew:

Some of you know the history on this truck.

It's been a pita from day one.

It's maiden trip, the AC condenser fell out of the truck...

8 condensers later,I finally have working AC.

I'm on a first name basis with every Western Star and Detroit Diesel dealership across the US and Canada..

That's why she is named "Christine"...

This truck has more demons then my ex-wife..:yikes::yikes::yikes:

The current problem is anti-freeze coming out the turbo..:bang head:

Just got it in the shop and they are thinking it's the EGR cooler.

We'll see and then the parts will be in Seattle.

Right now I'm broke down in Baltimore...:bang head:

  7. OK,just what the heck happened at the venison roast?????????????

I knew I should have come back down after I dropped the BikeHopper off at the house...

    Bill,you were there...Some 1st gen guard you are...:rasberry:
