  1. I thought the same thing when I saw the same story on my local newspaper's website. However there is a lot more to the story than is being reported. The child has made threats to kill several children and adults in the neighborhood and has been very specific and graphic in his descriptions. It's what prompted the judge to act this way. No one in the neighborhood who was a witness to the child's threats or acts of violence towards others were contacted about the story. Also, there's apparently a history of alcohol abuse and violence in the home as well. There's definitely more going on than was reported.

  2. Bad Jeff, Bad, now you sound like me. I have to reorganize the house and straighten up before the new bed Mike ordered is delivered, which is 6-10 days from yesterday. Neurologist put me on antiseizure meds for my migraines last thurs so every few mins I'm going off into my own little loopy world til it wears off. I'll be like this the next 4-6 weeks as my dosage increases. Also has me taking flexeril daily to ease the pain in my back and neck instead of as needed as I was taking it before. Seems to be helping so maybe docs know a thing or 2 about stuff. Guess it helps that she has migraines too.

  3. What are you gonna do with a that bike? What's wrong with it. I might consider buying it back.

Needs a new wiring harness. Which you might be able to better do than Mike. Mike can't tolerate the heat and basically exhausted all the time. I used to tease him all the time that he's a Yankee and couldn't accumulate to the climate. Not that at all we learned in May. He has a genetic blood disorder that causes malformed red blood cells, and it was something he was born with, but his doctors in Connecticut overlooked growing up. Took an Arab doctor living locally to recognize the condition (its very common amongst North Africans, African-Americans, Arabs, and Mediterranean people in Europe, since he's Croatian, go figure) and start monitoring it. But it explains his constant fatigue and heat intolerance, just means things like working outside are nearly impossible for him. Bright side is he has an excuse now to eat lots of beef several times a week to maintain his iron levels. I'll ask him if he's willing to sell it. He keeps saying he wants to fix it, but it's just sitting.

  4. I know, I'm from the younger crowd, but I have degenerative disk disease from my neck down. On my best days it's a dull ache, on my worst it puts me to bed for a day or 2. I've noticed a change the past year with riding. Mike got the c50t to replace his volusia for his commuter bike. The 1st gen hasn't run since last yr abt April. Mike never wants to just go out and ride anymore. I thought it was just was his knee and my comfort. Nope, the suspension is too hard and adjusting the shock only made handling squirrelly. But fact is on those random rides he does take with me, I'm in too much pain for anything else. I told him I'd rather ride, go swimming, and hike more, but he has no interest. All those things would help my back and make our rides more endurable.

  5. I wish, being in the younger crowd that Mike and I could go. I'm retired on disability so I have all the free time to go anywhere I want, funds not so much. And definitely not this yr. Between Mike's knee surgery, a not in the best of health senior cat, and a kitten with food allergies, my funds are depleted. Mike really wants to make the WNY rally one year so he can take me to Connecticut to show me his hometown, and going to WNY would put us closer than we are now.

  6. My husband and I bought a used rogue abt 4yrs now. It was my 1st car beyond GM. After 2 weeks driving it, it has so many issues like brake failure and in discovering the history on the car, the so called warranty on the car from Nissan was void and not disclosed to us at time of sale. Needlessly to say, the dealership was forced to void the sale.

  7. I've had this happen to me so many times locally it's a running joke that if the google maps car is in town it's going to find me while I'm out on errands. Unfortunately, by the time google updates the maps feed to the latest encounter, they edit or update the maps feed to remove the car so I can't go hey look, I'm caught again.

  8. Hi @bryckman, welcome to the forum......Unfortunately that is NOT a 1987 Venture in the AD.....This is my opinion for a couple of different reasons:

    1: All first generation Ventures 1986 and above had 1300cc engines.....1983 - 1985 had the 1200cc

    2. That back trunk is from a 1983 - 1984 Venture. If memory serves me correctly Mother Yamaha changed the rear trunk design in 1985. Sorry @GAWildKat but I need to disagree with your assessment, that IS a venture trunk and NOT one from a Goldwing....just the older design from Mom Yamaha.

Long story short, to confirm the age of the bike or at least of the frame there is a sticker on the right hand side of the bike on the lower frame support under the engine near the exhaust header pipe and it will give the manufacturing date. Here is a picture of what that sticker should look like, this is from one of my 1986 models (which was manufactured in Dec 1985 as a 1986 model):

Now, if it were my money I would be very careful with this bike. For that price you should be able to find a pretty nice First Generation Venture scoot in very good original shape! From the pictures, this bike looks highly "modified" and it is missing the rear bags. But of course I have a soft spot for ALL Ventures, and this bike might be the most fun you have ever had on 2 wheels. But hold out to find something you like and in the shape that you want as well.

I personally have only paid $1250 for all three of my 1986 Ventures COMBINED, and they are all in great shape, mechanically sound, and provide joy whenever I ride any of the 3 of them. But if you think this is the right scoot for you, all the great guys and gals on this forum got your back to provide help and insight to get her running and driving like a charm! All the best Buddy!

At 1st glance it looked goldwing, but yes, it's an mk1 trunk, I hadn't had coffee yet....

  9. Macon Georgia tied the record yesterday that has held for 100yrs. It was 103 with a feels like about 110. Omg I wanted to die. No bike yesterday but was still too hot to do anything. Saw the new X-men movie and it was good, but would have rather stayed home in my nice AC.

  10. That was our temps last week in Central Georgia, jk, but it did get up to 98/99 on Thursday. We rarely have these temps this early in summer. Scared to see what August and September will be this year, those are our hot months here usually.

  11. I fail to see the danger of someone knowing my address. It is common knowledge and can be found many places. I use the county tax records all the time to find out the owners name of a house I'm interested in as a Realtor. Many people have name and address on the mailbox out front.

Thankfully we rent currently, but I am a stay at home wife with a small sword and knife collection (can't have guns per the lease and other reasons) I'm not afraid to defend myself if needed and someone will have a very bad day if they come barging in my home. Husband just worries because I'm home alone. Granted, if he feels I'm unsafe he will ask a Marine friend to come babysit me. The officer told Mike they were sending a patrol by the house for a while to check on everything.

  12. Ok, I'm probably naive. If someone steals my registration card and insurance card - so what?

    zag

Registration shows our home address, and the work lot is a secure lot too. The license plate was Florida plates, we live in Central GA. Hubs learned through the course of things today that our county's sheriff's wife also works with him. She made the call to have an officer dispatched to the office to investigate the incident. He's very glad now that he didn't have the 'vote for' signs for the other guy from the last election in our yard. Someone would have tattled on us by now lol. Middle pic is the travel path through the lots.
