  1. @ sfcrader Thank you... that was the kind of info I was looking for, I actually just tried to call them and got a recording, saying to use the address you just provided, so I am sure this will help many others who go hunting for how to buy the Hagon Shock.. I am still looking into the YSS also.. but 394.42 is a very much in my price range.. @Freebird Do you remember if it was the Z-506 that Southbound has said. I havn't been able to get ahold of YSS yet either
  2. Thank you for all the info.. I will try to call Hagon later on today. So, can anyone anyone tell me if YSS is as good or better then Hagon? I can't seem to find much info on the YSS shock at all, but preliminary pricing has it at 370 shipped for any version of the Z-506.
  3. Thank you.. YYZ..??? do you mean YSS I had looked up YSS before and found nothing for our bike on either USA or Thailand site. do you have a part number or size, or even a link to our shock?
  4. Hello.. My rear shock has turned into a pogo stick, and is in need of replacement. Simple enough, except I can't seem to find it. I have read a ton of posts, mostly old, and I don't want to go with stock if I don't have too, and I don't have a grand to buy a "works" mono shock, so that leave's the Hagon, BUT, I sent hagon usa and email and was sent a computer reply that they have been shut down due to lack of personnel. So where are people getting these shocks? I have been searching for a few days and find something. I found this, but it looks like it is for the Tour Deluxe and not the Venture. http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-1300-VENTURE-STAR-XVZ13TF-4XY-1998-2010-Hagon-Adjustable-Mono-Shock-/301881417199 so does anyone have a current source for aftermarket rear shocks that don't cost a fortune? Thank you..
  5. I live on the MA/NH coast 16 miles from maine, and every year we do Rolling Thunder down in washington, but we stay in Dulles,VA.. We always go 15> 81 >84>90>495 nice country roads at highway speeds, not alot of traffic.. once 495 ends it dumps you back on 95 16 miles from maine.. not sure the best route to get you from Chesapeake Va to to 15 or 81 tho..
  6. Does anyone have a Maintainence Day here in MA/NH or even any state in New England?? I would love to go to Freebirds, but I just can't get enough time off work to make the trip. Thanks Chuck
  7. Thank you freebird.. I have seen those on ebay, but those are the whole exhaust, and I am looking for the rear Y section only. i guess if I am unable to find them once these fall apart I may have to go that route, but untill then, I am going to try to find just the Y section.. Chuck
  8. Hi all.. Has anyone found a suitable replacement for the rear Y header pipe?? mine have rusted out so bad it actually split and seperated at the end of the muffler, I repaired them by putting in a 6inch peice of heavy pipe that fit perfectly snug inside the Y pipe and the muffler, and all was good for a while, but it now has started developing at the other end and the center too, so it is time to replace them.. New one's are just way to pricey.. used ones seem hard to find.. in my search for a possible solution, I did see a thread where someone was talking about having them made out of stainless, but no word as to whether they actually did or not. I see the 1st gen guys have manged to figure out a way to make thiers.. Has any one figured out a way to have them made for the 2nd gen. or have any the want to sell.. Thank you Chuck
  9. Had the same thing happen to me, fixed #3 coil and then #1 died a few days later.swapped that out too.. 8 months and 25k later #3 just died again..and these really are a nightmare to change out.
  10. HI all.. Well after a sucky winter here in New England and only able to ride a few days a month during that crap, we finally are getting some sunny and warmer days, and I can finally work on the bike. I had issues with both rear coils last year having them both fail within 2 weeks of each other. Now, again as I am working on the hole that has developed in my exhaust just after the spot where you connect the cans, (which is another nightmare) I start the bike up and again, it has a funny sound, a sound I am all to familiar with, so I check the head pipes at the engine to see which are hot, and which is not, and #3 is cold again. I do the normal checks of the wire, put in a spare plug to test for spark, nothing.. unscrew cap, cut back wire a little incase of corrosion and test again.. Nadda.. used the Multi meter with no luck, checked on here and see that the manual says to do it the wrong way, so I will check it using the Common wire blade, which I believe is the center one. now during the winter, I did have one occasion when it seemed as if it had lost power, so after it all cooled down, (and at 27° it didn't take long :0) front left #2 was cold.. wiggled and pushed the plug wire, fired it up and it got hot and sounded better.. same deal with #3 a few weeks earlier.. But, after this short little history, I am now thinking as I am about to tackle this issue again, I cant be THAT dam unlucky with coils and have 2 die, and at sporadic times others quit working, then start working again. so I came her to see if it could be an issue with whatever the coils are connected too? I read the 1st gens have a TCI but I don't see that we do, so what else could possibly be causing my coils to quit working like this?? is there a test I can do to see if the wires to the coils are good? Thank you... Chuck
  11. oopps.. sorry, I never saw that you had responded, I was searching for another post and just saw this.. I do still have the seat if you are interested.. I also have a Hartco seat too.. Chuck
  12. Has anyone had experience with this fuel pump?? It has to be a Chinese pump, but it seems to be priced at a point where I am considering getting it as a carry around back up.. other then the blue wire, it looks a lot like the ones for sale in the Europe. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Pump-2001-Yamaha-XVZ-1300-TF-Venture-Star-5JC3-/161410288013?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2594cd898d&vxp=mtr thanks chuck
  13. Well after a few days of putting the bike thru its paces, I can feel confident in saying it is fixed, why, I have no idea.. the last thing that caused a change was blowing in the carb vent tubes, so I may have had some sort of blockage in the tube since I checked and rechecked they wern't pinched..I am thinking I had a spider build a web/nest thing in one of my tubes on another bike long ago, and that maybe what happened here.. but I have put 700 miles on it since I put it all back together and have had good postive fuel flow. so I want to thank everyone for thier help and suggestions.. I know I would have never looked at that hose if it wasn't suggested. Thank you Chuck
  14. V7Goose.. I agree with you about the filter, what seems to be happening is, I can start with a full filter, and it will slowly go down as the bike runs, and the new fuel will trickle in as it is suppose to, but, what is happening is the fuel flowing into the filter is less then the fuel flowing out to the carbs and it eventually starts lugging and chugging and dies. when I start with an empty fuel filter, it does pretty much the same, spits in fuel, but the engine dies out much quicker.. Tomorrow I am going to put everything together and take it out for a spin and see if running at a higher rpm then idle helps draw a steady flow into the carbs, and if not I at least know how to fill the fuel filter and line fast. when I cleaned the carbs I used Gumout cleaner.. a whole 16oz can.. Niel86.. no need to say sorry... I left it out of my latest update.. as sometimes I forget I know what I did, but you all don't unless I say..
  15. Neil86: I will do that, but, I don't think it is the cause, since I have the gas cap off as I am running these tests just to take any possible vacuume question out of the equation.. and to even take it one step further, I have the carb tune hooked up to monitor the vaccume and changes in carb, and to ensure there is no vacuume leak there..
  16. Fuel pump is disconected and out of the equation.. the vent hose from the top front nipple on the fuel tank is discontected, and although I maybe wrong, that is the line to the rollover valve. None of the vent or fuel lines have a kink, they all have been pulled out and replaced. all hoses, filter and fuel are new. and the are just laying/hanging on the bike to ensure there are no kinks and bends. the only thing that comes to mind is if there is a valve in the carb vent circut to keep fuel from leaking out the carb vent tube, but, when I cleaned the carbs I don't remember seeing anthing like that,it really is just a plastic tube. I cleaned and removed all I could get at, used cleaner and air hose to blow thru the tiny holes of the carbs.. , but maybe someone who works on these carbs often would know, because I really don't want to pull them and take them apart again if nothing is there, and looking at the schematic of this carb and all its peices I don't see one.
  17. OK.. here is an update, and what I believe to be progress, but also an added mystery.. drained the fuel tank into a big ole pickle jar, let it sit..no water separation.. re-inspected petcock.. still clean.. put it back together and added new fresh fuel to tank, had also bought a new fuel line so I put that on.. bypassed fuel pump, turned on fuel.. got some flow, but not much, started the bike up, still getting some flow, but really not enough to keep up with the demand I can see it trickle in and stop.. hmmmmm I wondered.. so I went to the right side carb vent hose, and checked to make sure it was not plugged up.. gave a slight blow in it, engine RPM bottomed out to the point of almost dying, but sputtered back in seconds, but when I did that blow I could feel fuel gurgling so I gave a quick suck on the hose and baamm fuel filter filled up in a millisecond and no stayed full as I ran it.. reved it trying to suck down the gas, but it stayed full... turned it off, let it sit for a while, started it back up, and now we are back to square one, trickle of fuel that couldn't keep up,and it was easier to see it go down this time starting with a full fuel filter..so I went to the left vent hose did the same thing, go the same reaction, fuel filter filled right up.. I have yet to bolt the bike back together so I didn't take it for a test ride. but with all the idling and revving for 20 min the fuel filter stayed full.. so does anyone know why or what blowing/sucking on that line does, and why it corrects my fuel flow?? I think I would look a little funny doing that every time I turned the bike off.. but as of now, that is the only was to get good positive fuel flow..
  18. V7Goose Yup pulled the petcock (refer to post #19), and checked filter.. clean as a whistle.. getting ready to go out and test the vent hose's and integrity of the lines themselves.
  19. I went to the darkside this spring..over12k so far, makes the bike a much better riding, and stopping bike.. all together I have done about 60k on the darkside with my voyager, and I will not ride a heavy weight cruiser with an MC tire.. I even pulled a fairly new tire off the venture because I hated the ride, and the ease to slide the back tire in emergency braking..
  20. the fuel pump has been completly disconnected and it is out of the loop, per se, so it is not the problem, (the pump itself seems to be fine though.) I had run the bike to drain down the carbs, and it was stuttering from the lack of fuel, so I know the carbs were low, but I will completly drain them when I get home.. the vent hose, or the actual hose collapsing sounds more like a route to investigate, and I will do that when I get home also.. Thank you all for the suggestions... i will update the results
  21. OK.. quick update the mystery deepens.. got home fuel filter was full of gas so I started, nice and normal, ran great, left it running saw the fuel filter spitting gas in, then the filter started having less and less fuel and no more was flowing in, so I disconnected the pump and jumped the two lines together with the fuel filter.. turned petcock on, no flow pulled line at petcock, good flow, pulled line at fuel filter, good flow, blew in hose and could hear the bubbling in tank, blew in other hose, heard it in the carbs, so no blockage, put all back together, no flow, I one point earlier I removed gas cap to incase it was building up suction.. so I have all good flow in individual parts but not as a whole unit.. very odd.. pulled the tank flipped it over pulled the petcock to inspect filters.. good and clean, blew in them too..put it back together put it on bike, no flow, replaced fuel filter with another one, no flow.. I cannot get fuel to flow into the filter, running or not, but nothing is blocked it just seems that once it is connected to the carbs it vaperlocks the whole system.. really strange, I even tried blowing in the fuel line at the petcock and couldn't get any air to pass into the carbs.. even running.. I am at a loss, this is just weird...
  22. I will bypass the pump when I get home.. I was originaly going to do that, but the pump was pumping, so I bypassed that.. silly, silly me.. if it is the pump.. instead of getting that list of hardware at HD or lowes, why can't I just get this?? http://www.ebay.com/itm/MR-GASKET-42S-Electric-Fuel-Pump-/151230219816?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2336060628&vxp=mtr#ht_2399wt_1555 it is funny, I checked ebay for pump prices, and my favorite parts place Pinwall and guess what I found.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/04-Yamaha-Venture-Royal-Star-XVZ1300-42S-MICRO-ELECTRONIC-FUEL-GAS-PUMP-/200690784734?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eba1a59de&vxp=mtr#ht_4134wt_943
  23. Thank you for all the replies.. I worked on thins thing all weekend.. tested the tank, the petcock, and fuel pump.. changed and relocated the fuel filter.. checked all plugs and coils.. still not running after starting. pulled the carbs and took them apart and cleaned everything I could figure out how to get out.. the third tube in the carb is a mystery to me, but pulled and cleaned jets and the other one.. float's, bowls needles.. checked diaphragm's ect.. used a whole 16 oz can of gumout carb cleaner.. put it all together, loosely started up, ran good, but a little rough, but way better and I could use the throttle without it dying.. it was getting let so I figure I would bolt everything down in the morning... to cu to the chase, after I have it all together and get ready to balance the carbs, I start it and it dies, give it some choke, it starts runs for a few min and dies, now I an right back where I started, it just dying out.. I was running out of time and needed a bike so I left the venture, moved over to the voyager for a quick easy fix, and off I went.. I didn't remember to check the points, which I will tomorrow as I am going to check the fuel pump again, it is the only thing that makes sense.. Just thought I would update this.. and see if there is a good way to test these fuel pumps except watch them pump??
  24. I have done that with the petcock and have good flow in both positions. I am going to pull the filter when I get home, and bypass it to see if it will run, if not I will bypass the fuel pump too and test it that way. the mixture I am using will run the bike all day long straight out of the can, unlike seafoam, which will not run straight out of the can.. so I know that is not the issue, because I have done it this way for years..
  25. Yes, sorry, I left that out of my explanation after it died out, I did think of the tank and put it back on the mixture in the can and tried running it from there to help alleviate that problem and it dies.. and now it is still on the line in the open can and it wont even idle anymore, just starts and dies, tried re-draining the carbs and turning on key and again and the pump filled the carbs back up, even left the drain open to see and yup, turn on the key ,pump runs and mixture runs right out the open drains..
