  1. Very sorry about the link being active. I hope nobody went there. My screw up. What I had a good laugh about was the date. Whoever sent this must have been in Asia and forgot about the date line. So it arrived in my e-mail the day before it supposedly happened. The hacker needs a geography lesson.

  2. I received an alert from Bank of America today. They are warning me about unauthorized activity on my account. And telling me I need to update my profile. I am so thankful they are looking out for me. I will update my info tonight for sure. Here is an excerpt from their notice. Pay attention to the date and time. It is not everyone who can detect this sort of thing the day before it happens.

  3. What about >system>display>resolution That should adjust the size of icons etc

No help. Neither does right clicking on screen and using display settings. There is one setting that will shrink the icons but the distortion remains. In my opinion Microsoft is their own worst malware. Why they decided to change my video driver is beyond me. Also I checked on setting updates to manual. It was already there. It just updates anyways. Go figure

  4. Thanks Marcarl

I will give it a try. I do a lot of photography and picture editing so having a distorted screen is a very big deal. I will be switching to Apple as soon as I can. But since I have a lot of money invested in various editing programs I have been putting it off. Guess I better get the lead out.

  5. After spending a lot of time with Microsoft tech chat they couldn't help. You can't completely uninstall updates on Windows 10. I finally got e-mail working but my screen is still messed up. At least until the next auto update comes in. Just think I am having all this trouble with my last Microsoft product ever.

  6. Microsoft hosted another update to my Windows 10. I wish I could just turn off updates but that seems to not be possible. So now my Outlook e-mail does not work. Notice says 'The operation failed' when trying to send or receive. The icons on my desktop are huge as are all of my applications. Also my screen is very distorted. Stretched wide and thin. My display settings are very limited and so far don't help either.

    Anyone have any ideas.

  7. I reload shotgun shells for trap. I don't think it saves much money. But it does allow me to be consistent.

I think every shooter who reloads his/her shells has their own secret formula. Whether they are looking for reduced recoil, improved consistency, lower cost or something else most get into it with some goal in mind.

  8. Thanks Mike,

Can any Vmax rear end work? If not, where would I send my existing one for conversion?

I never really go much faster than 75mph on my bike so this conversion sounds like it would be great for me. Especially if gas mileage improves.

Just one more thing for my todo list for this winter!

I gotta say the more I spend time on this site and the more I learn about, you guys sure know how to make someone open up their wallets a lot to improve their ride.

You're almost as good at it as another Yamaha forum that I frequent.

Check this article. The V-Max gears will fit the RSV pumpkin.

  9. I am going to OMG myself. The more time I spend on here, the more things I hear about.

What the heck is a Vmax rear end conversion? What's involved and what's the advantage?

The V-Max rear end conversion lowers the gear ratio of the rear end. This provides for improved torque on acceleration and a slightly higher engine RPM at any speed.

There is an excellent article in the Second Gen tech section. The easiest way to accomplish it is to just pull the pumpkin and send it in for conversion. Having done this on two bikes now. I can say I am very happy with the results. The bike is much peppier and more responsive. I like that.

  10. I did the V-Max conversion on my last two bikes and yes I did get slightly better mileage. I also got much better performance. The conversion will not effect the speedometer sensor as that is positioned to count off rear wheel revolutions. The only issue I have is the combination of V-Max rear end and a speedometer calibration device (SpeedoDRD) caused my cruise control to only work in fifth gear. But since fifth gear is much more usable with the V-Max that is ok by me.

I am truly glad you are able to post about this event. Hopefully insurance will cover your medical bills and bike. For the rest of you reading this post. Keep your distance. The only good outcome from laying your bike down is in the movies.

  12. Well I got the part from Brooks at 12oclock Labs and installed it. It did not help. Brooks thought the issue might be caused by electrical noise. So he wired up and sent me a shunt capacitor. But it did not help. So I will stick with my previous theory. The problem is a combination of the V-Max gear and the speedo correction throwing the computer off it's gear calculation. Since my cruise works in fifth I can live with that. As I prefer an accurate speedometer.

Also for those of you installing a SpeedoDRD go to 12oclock labs web page and enter your speedo and gps readings. Then print the install instructions. They will be customized to correct for your error. Way cool.

  13. To end the suspense. Due to the issue of the cruise not working in fourth gear. I became curious as to how the cruise control knew when the bike is in fourth gear or fifth gear for that matter. I finally deduced the computer must compare vehicle speed to engine speed even though there is no RPM meter on these bikes. So RPM pulses to speedo pulses. The normal error created by the inaccurate speedo falls within the tolerance of the computer programing. In my case I did the V-Max rear end swap some time ago. That causes higher than normal engine RPM. Correcting my speedo also causes higher engine RPM. Either of these by itself is still within the allowable tolerance of the on board control unit. But both together are outside the controller's range and the cruise will not engage.

That is my guess until I hear different. Now I have to call Brooks at 12oclock Labs and let him off the hook.

    Mike

  14. OK I have run into a problem with my SpeedoDRD. When it is installed my speedometer is exactly accurate with the GPS. BUT my cruise control does not work.

If I set the percentage of error way down I can make it work in fifth gear but not fourth. I have been on the phone with Brooks at 12oclock Labs and we are working on a solution. But so far it is still bad.
