  1. Given the amount of oil that was dumped out very quickly, I suspect that unless it just sat there running, as soon as he moved it and got oil all over the rear tire, he would have known it.

Somebody on here broke the same flange on their Venture and I keep thinking he was able to plumb up a remote oil filter on the outlets.:confused24:

Found it. It was Thom that repaired a broken flange with a remote oil filter.

That is a great idea! Hmmmmmmm

  2. It seems that the day after I ride I struggle with my sinuses, a headache, and just seem worn out. It doesn't have to be a 200 mile trip either. I try to stay hydrated and wear earplugs. It seems worse this year and is spoiling my joy of riding. Yesterday was beautiful but after a short ride the day before I had a headache. Any suggestions?

  3. It was great to get up to Anamosa this morning to meet a few of you at the museum. I pray that you all have a great rally and safe riding. I wish I would have been able to attend but having fun with our Vacation Bible School kids takes priority. If any of you pass by Newton and want to meet up, give me a shout!

This is my RoadStar Midnight Silverado, AKA UltraStar, StarGlide, Starley, Etc. LOL 07 Lots of MODs, LED Lights all over, Hardley tour pack Custom Sound system 6.5 in the rear 6x9s in Reckless fairing, JVC head unit, Progressive adjustable Rear, And up front. Total lock up clutch, Darkside Austone Taxi Tire, Metz Rear on front. Ultimate seats, The list of parts and Labor so long I am going to have to put it back to stock to sell it and part out the rest, shame. But the 08 RSV seems to be a more nimble touring bike, but this Roadstar handles like a dream. If I can't sell it for what I want, its going to be easy to keep it. It is more a one up bike. No matter how much you put into the suspension. You'll ;ove the Roadstar and The Roadstar Clinic.com is to Roadstars what the Venture Rider is to Ventures. Go get em!

I like what you have done to your bike. Mine is basically stock so I have been looking at what changes I can make. It has a cheap speaker system that might have to go. Looking at changing out the seat and getting a back rest. I did order the hard bags to replace the leather. Iron Horse had the cobalt blue on clearance for $600. I should be able to get a few bucks out of my leather bags to offset.

  5. If you've been around the forum you know I kinda like dealing on cycles. So far this year I have had a 96 Royal Star with bad engine, traded for a Goldwing and moped even up, sold both and made a good sized payment on a 2010 Voyager, took a 99 Road Star with Smitty Eagle Trailer as partial trade on the Voyager, had the Road Star and trailer 4 days and traded up to an 08 Roadstar. The Road Star is still a big bike but easier for me to handle with the kind of riding I do. I was hoping to move into a Tour Deluxe but the Road Star deal was too good to pass up and seems to meet my needs. For how long......who knows? :big-grin-emoticon:

  6. My son and I were sitting on the back deck and he saw my bike out by the garage. He came right up the steps and started talking. Nice guy and I think his name was Oscar. Anyway, I told him this site had wonderful people so don't let me down!

  7. I met a guy today from Mason City, Iowa who purchased a new 2012 Venture. I invited him to check out the site and told him about the upcoming rally. He seemed very interested especially in getting to Galena. Hope he makes it and joins up!

  8. Well, the 2010 Voyager is history as I sold it to a guy who traded in a nice 99 Road Star with a sweet trailer. I really liked the Voyager even better than my Ventures but wanted to ditch the loan payment. My goal is to keep bartering and trading up to get back into a tour deluxe. I put the Roadstar on some Facebook pages for $5000.

  9. God lover thanks for giving us a real time update and info on the voyager. I don't see many in my neck of the woods and test rode one last year and it handles just fine. I did feel my R leg was on broil. I do not remember about how flimsy or solid the saddlebags and trunk and fairing were in comparison to RSV and HD. That said, it handled great and I rode that bad boy with confidence. There see,a to be quite a few out there and I am curious as to the real reasons behind it. Any one wanna take a stab? The price, the market, the construction, the heat, any combo?? Maybe it's just too darn hot in Florida although I have seen one at Leesburg in April.

I think the reason you don't see many is this is only the 4th year and Kawasaki quit making touring bikes for 6 years. The current RSV has been the same for 14 years thus three times as many seen on the road. In the same way Yamaha did a poor job advertising the Royal Stars, Kawasaki has done a poor job doing the same with the Voyager. I can see how the exhaust may be a problem in Florida but the guy I talked to who solved the heat problem by wrapping his pipes lived in the south. I find the faring and trunk are solid but I struggle a bit getting the saddle bags latched. It may be something I need get used to latching them. The bags and trunk seem to have more space than either the RSV or the HD.

  10. I have had my 2010 Voyager for two weeks and I absolutely love the ride. Every day I have ridden it has been very windy and it rides like a dream.

The stock seat wasn't for me so I bought a gel seat that sits me higher which is better. The Mustang seat a guy let me try pushed me too far forward.

It has 6 speeds with the 6th being overdrive. I don't get into overdrive on the back roads. According to the computer I am getting 50 mpg which I doubt. Mine has a power commander and has plenty of get up and go. Some people complain that the stock set up is a bit doggy.

There is heat off the exhaust pipes as stated in the forums. Not worse than my Harley's and I talked to a guy who wrapped his with exhaust tape and got rid of the heat. You can't see the tape as it hides under the heat shield. I will wrap mine if need be.

The vents on the lowers is nice. I like the fuel injection but it does take premium gas...but If I am really getting 50 mpg who cares! The radio is awesome and I love the speakers. There are great deals on the Voyagers and they are nice bikes.
