  1. Thanks Brian, I did a full search and that or any other thread came up on Kootnay. Anyway, Do we have an itinerary yet as I have not been to Kruisn the Kootnay's yet? I am about 3.5 hrs South of Nelson but we have to be back Mon am to work.. Thanks for the thread and info and am looking forward to seeing the area and meeting the "gang" (as my wife puts it).

  2. We have 2 HTC android phones that I bought used. I have them activated as phones only, no data plan. (actually just placed my existing sim card in and worked immediately) So I have a phone and can access WIFI at hotspots as well as home but not on the fly. Work fine for us and we are not paying for the expensive data plans.

  3. Was out on the bike yesterday and the last predicted no precip day for a while. 19 Degrees when I left and about 26 when I returned but was very unhappy that when I got back to my community they had smeared the streets with de-ice. THat stuff is very slick so the last 2 miles were on the shoulder trying to avoid the stuff. This morning the roads were iced up with many accidents. I was in the cage!!!!

  4. I have adjusted mine using a car in front of me. The majority of the light should hit the trunk area ( or just below the bottom of the rear window) and slightly above the license plate. This works great on most mid to standard size vehicles. This way I know my light is shooting right through the rear window into the mirror but give nice distance. I do it this way because I am lazy and rarely have a helper. The measurements given above I have used on cages and works fine.

  5. I kept closed track of my mileage this summer on a 5200 mile trip back east and back. The average was just over 42MPG over the 2 week period. My current average is just over 40 and I pull a loaded trailer about 25% of the time. I use the "DriverDiary" APP

  6. I spoke with Alan yesterday and I will be getting the trailer back before they head home. I was unaware that we would be relaying it back east. Has there been any plans for this? There is no problem storing it at my house for the time being. Let me know what the plans are. Thanks, Wayde

  7. Well it was a great trip and I am finally home. I want to thank all who offered assistance on the repairs and maintenance on my bike at MD. A great opportunity to learn, wrench and socialize with a great group.

    Also wanted to thank Mark in Scottsbluff NE for lunch and the companion ride. Nice to meet another member.

    Sincerely, Wayde

  8. Just a quick update. I am stiff but functioning but enough about me. I found a brand new radio controller on ebay that I won for $77. Thanks for no one here outbidding me!!! Not a pinwheel used for $215. YAAAA I can repair the cowling and aiming to repaint in a couple of weeks. What I would like to know is the paint code for my bike. I have a 99 with the dark purple over silver. Thanks

  9. Thanks for the well wishes and the information. You guys are right about following distances. I always ride further back than the group and I feel out of sync but I am ok with that. I do believe that the guy in front of me was not as proficient as he made himself appear. As we approach the corners he would slow to a snails pace. When we came to the corner we went down he started on one side and crossed into mine. I was only doing about 20 but I think he tried to slow to fast IN the corner which then led to my mistake.

    Thanks again for the concern and words of experience.

    I am feeling better today and will be out on the bike today but and stiff and sore but that to will pass!:fingers-crossed-emo

  10. I went on a PGR mission today and ended up in the ditch. I was behind another bike that froze in a harpin corner and lost control with me behind him. I had nowhere to go as I was committed to the corner and did not want to hit him so I ditched it in the ditch. Now for the bad news, I need a front lower left cowling, and a radio exterior shell. the radio works but the case is severely damaged. Any one have any of these??? The other bad new is a cracked rib or two and two scuffed and brused knees and of course the pride issue. I did finish the mission with 200+ miles so i kept most of my pride. Any help on the two items would be appreciated as I am heading to Freebirds MD and at least need the radio repaired. I will need to paint the bike but don't know if I can accomplish this before MD. I guess I need to donate to the pot now!! WHERE????

    Thanks:depressed::depressed:

  11. I searched the site and found this site directed me to this site: http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.html, I spent some time to print out the list so I would have it handy. I went to Napa when they had there 2for1 sale. and bought some for the shelf. I turns out that the above filter list show that the Napa gold was the same as my wife's Subaru. WOW, now I only have to stock 1 for both on the shelf.

    No the bad news.... The filter fits but will not seat. The threaded plate on the filter is convexed and does not allow the filter gasket to seat causing a great leak. The Walmart filter I took off was concaved and seated. I went back to Napa and mos of their filters are convexed. A word of warning is not to rely on that site for cross referencing oil filter for the 2 gen.

    Thanks.
