  1. Black owl..... I just bought one of these hitches..... plan to do it this winter.... Am I right in assuming you drill right through the nylon, steel center bar stock and back out the other side???? I was wondering if the turning mechanism would be jammed if I dilled right through !!!:whistling:

  2. 86er and Marcarl... thanks for the replys, I have lots of hockey pucks for shims of needed, and glad to hear that I won't crush anything, now just waiting for the snow to fly ( and stay) just so I do not miss that last riding opportunity

  3. thanks for the replies..... I guess I should have included the type of bike...... silly me ( or blame the night shifts) 1988 VR... I am assuming that there is no special precautions or concerns about the crushing effect on the mufflers or the cross piece underneath?? you see this is my first "heavy" bike, and it took 40 riding years to get in the saddle of one, (other monetary priorities) and would rather ask questions 2X up front, than have an oopsy.

STILL HOPING FOR "INDIAN SUMMER" AS THEY CALL IT UP HERE, TO GET THE LAST BIT OF RIDING IN.... KEEP YOU FINGERS CROSSED :bighug:

  4. gents..... and ladies, where is the center of gravity point for lifting and changing out the 2 tires? and any precautions as to shimming, so that I do not damage anything. I still plan to "hang" it from the celing of the garage.....I have a chainfall set up, but plan to use that for extra security only......I don't want my baby to FALL...:no-no-no::no-no-no:............thanks in advance JOHN

  5. mine 88 VR ( bought used) came with a light in the center luggage , it is on a switch as you open the lid...... if you wanted to put lights in the side luggage bags, use LED's , they made accent ones, 3 in a molded case, and wiring them into the wire from the center luggage , and put a 2 pole connector on it...... the only decision then is wether to put a switch on it or just open the center luggage to light all 3 compartments...... just my thought, use a flashlight myself..... but you got me thinking......

  7. gents... I just installed a trailer light converter kit on my 1988 Venture Royale.... i bought the relay box at a discount auto supply place for $20.00, I did see them at Canadian Tire for about $35.00 .the converter is POWERPATH #784651 made by cooper automotive. then I completed the installation with a 4 pole socket from NAPA #82-1020B and matching plug # 82-1021B. the module is small 2"X3"X3/4", and the whole thing is installed in the inside corner of my left saddle bag, the wiring that I needed to access is easily reached under the seat.... I can send you pictures and more detail if needed... johnmusters@hurontel.on.ca
