  1. I had a chance to ride with another Venture today that was identical to mine but with MANY more toys on it. So, I got to see what mine would look like with lots of toys.

He had aftermarket pipes on it that sounded pretty good. He said they are Sampson slipons but didn't remember the model of the pipes. He said he bought them because he wanted Fishtails. I really liked them because they weren't overly loud, but had a nice tone to them.

I thought I would ask opinions on a couple of forums about Sampson. Do any of you have experience with them - good or bad? How is their quality?

  2. I have an 07 Venture that is Blue / Black. It is ready for tires and I am thinking about putting Wide Whitewalls on her.

Do any of you have them on your Venture, (preferably same colors) and could post a pic or two? This way I can see how mine would look ahead of time.

I am familiar with Metzler from my last Kaw 1500 Classic, but other than those I'm not sure which to choose. My dealer tells me that Metzler doesnt make them for the Venture in Whitewalls. So I thought would search a couple of forums to see which is most liked.

  3. We check on our mount the night before......

No, there's no similarities there...I must have been mistaken.

THAT is what I am talking about!

NOT the working part. Some of us 'city boys' don't know and don't want to know about the hard part of being a cowboy. I only want to know the riding & being free part.

When I get a chance to be around a horse, I can stand there for hours, just petting or feeding grass to him. I have always been very envious of those that were either raised around &/or have them now. I have paid to go 'horse-back riding' 3 or 4 times in my life and LOVED it each time - even though you have to stick to a trail and can only walk the horse. If my health was better, I would like to do a 'Dude Ranch' of some kind for a week of just riding and being around horses.

  4. I'm glad I saw this post, I was looking at a 2001 Sunday with 120,000 miles and was curious if it had "too many miles" on it. I't looks very clean, but the audio does not work. No other problems reported. asking $8200. WHat do you think?

I agree, WAYYYY too much money for those miles.

There are some awesome deals out there on used Ventures with low miles.

  5. While riding this past w/e thru the rolling hills of Western Iowa, admiring the Fall colors, I saw a couple of people riding horses thru their fields.

This got me wondering if bikers could've been Cowboys in a previous life.

From my own experience, I am in heaven when on my bike out in the countryside with no one else around. The wind, sunshine, even the rain makes me feel at home. Even though I am a 'city boy', I feel more natural out riding the countryside.

I know this is stretching things, but my mind wanders the whole time when I am out riding.

  6. We will definately have to meet up sometime. The weather is getting colder, so it looks like riding together MIGHT have to wait until next spring.

Hopefully, some others from this area will chime into this thread. I've seen a few of them around the Omaha area. (I never noticed them until I bought one.) I need to print up some 'cards' for this site and put them on the bikes I see in parking lots. It would be nice to get a bunch of us together sometimes.

We were looking at buying a Black Cherry from Power Sports, but the price was high and I couldn't decide whether I wanted to spend that much. We looked at it 4 or 5 times. We finally decided to go for it and went out to deal - and it was gone. Sold a few days before. So, we ended up going to Fremont and my wife fell in love with the Blue/Black. We save MANY dollars by buying there.

While at lunch a month or so later, we saw Black Cherry. We started talking to the guy and discovered that his was the bike we going to deal on!! We all had a good chuckle over that. He told me he paid 20k for it!! MUCH more than I was willing to pay. He said they 'threw in' a Corbin seat and a luggage rack for the Trunk. - Still MUCH more than it is worth to me. But, that being said, it is a Gorgeous bike.

I saw my first 'live' 1st generation today at Pauls Motorcycle over in CB. I think the guy working there said it is an 86 with 50Kish miles.

The bike looks brand new! He said the owner takes very good care of it. - It shows. He said the bike was in for repairs or something like that and is not for sale.

I think is is MUCH better looking 'live' than in pictures.

  7. I used to have a 99 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 1500 and join a Vulcan Riders group.

Now that I have a Venture, I would like to get together & ride with some Venture Riders.

Are any of you in the Omaha, NE area and would like to ride together sometime?

  8. Congrats to you!!!

I worked 12 years at a Job I HATED and for a pitiful income, (too dumb to look elsewhere). I finally got hurt on the Job and HAD to look elsewhere.

I ended up with a job that I am now making 3 times the money and I LOVE the job - been here 15 years. I actually look forward to going to work. My company treats employees like family.

For those of you that think you are 'stuck' at a sucky job, you aren't. Get out there and find a good one. They ARE out there.

  9. I think I only remembered about 1/2 of them.

I really miss ole Hoppy. I used to watch him religously on Sunday mornings as a kid.

I wish there was a cable channel that showed those old series and movies 24/7. I would have that channel on all the time.

  10. My wife and I did the Dragon this past August during our trip from Omaha, NE to the East Coast and Back.

I had heard and read of the Dragon from several sources and was a little more than intimidated when I first got there. Afer a few turns though, I REALLY started to enjoy the curves and was pretty heavy on the throttle and brakes. I could smell the breaks at times.

Just remember that the road is very dangerous and you have to be on your toes the whole time. While pulled over at a scenic overlook, we were told that a couple on a Goldwing missed a curve and went off a cliff the day before. - This was a rather sobering thought and really reminded me of how dangerous the road CAN be.

That being said, the road is pretty neat even if you don't 'hog' your way thru it. My wife and I are anxious to do it again.

  11. My wife and I just got back from a 5000ish mile ride and we bought the Nuvi 250W about 500 miles into it. We have never had a GPS like it before - it REALLY helped us along the way.

I didn't mount it, my wife carried it the entire time, so I can't answer you question about the fit.

I just wanted to chime in and tell you how much we love it.

  12. Front kit number BA-7503RS

    Rear kit number BA-7530

You can search the part number on the Barons web page. The front kit is listed to fit the venture through '01 but it is the correct fit.

I purchased mine from the local yamaha dealer and let them do all the work. The price was only about $10 more than listed at Barons.

So how much was the whole procedure, parts and labor?

I'm 6' and still don't like the height of the bike.

  13. I had a Corbin on my 99 Vulcan Classic and LOVED the driver's part, my wife didn't care for the passenger's part.

I now have an 07 Venture and my wife LOVES her portion of the stock seat but I don't care for the Driver's portion. Since the Stock seat is 2 parts, I wish the Corbin came that way, I would buy just the driver's portion.

So, I have to try to modify the driver's portion to fit me better. After riding 100 miles or so, it feels like I am sitting on a rolled up pair of socks in the Crack of my A$$. I have ordered the Utopia Backrest which is supposed to ship my 6-30, once I get it installed, I plan to find a local upholstry shop to 'carve' on my portion of the stock seat.
