  1. I have it on excellent authority inside Yamaha that they will NEVER move to a V-twin for the Venture. Look for a very nicely juiced up 2011 model with lots of improvements to the current 2nd Gen. (Their guys read this forum every day, so they know what their loyal customers are saying!) Target price will be under $20K.

    Stay tuned! :innocent-emoticon:

Great. Another "I want" scenario.

  2. Any thing can be attached to a Venture..

All depends on the persons inginuity...and how bad he wants it.... :mo money:

Yes, it can be attached. You may need to design and manufacture attach bars /brackets to make it happen..

Dang..it looks like the right size. Oh boy.

  3. saw a couple of stratoliner (and/or roadliner) at the dealer the other day, running from 16 to 19 depending what's on it. the 19K was a new '08!!

19 for an 08! I saw the 09 Strat Tourer at the local dealer for $11,440. White and Silver two tone. They had an additional $4400 off of the sale price. We couldn't believe the price.

My good friend bought a 09 Raider. I was looking at it and then someone walked up and said "I bought it"! OK..as I backed away. :)

  4. When I installed the light bar extension bracket I re-tapped the bolts and used some lock tite blue. Worked fine. It's hard to get a tap into the mounting holes in the forks.

You might try removing the fairing so as to get a better angle and grip on the bolt.

Yeah, I agree with you. I don't let Yamaha touch anything on my ride unless absolutely necessary. They dented my gas tank and then would not admit it. Mother Yamaha got a nice letter also. I got stuck buying a new tank. Not cheap. Will never buy anything from Ridenow Powersports.

  5. How did I end up on the RSV? Oh, that's right. The wifey.

I wanted the Stratoliner. Still do. The Deluxe is to die for IMO. I told the little lady if you are not comfortable on the back seat it's a no go. She tapped me on the shoulder and said "what about this?" (pointing like they do)

The rest is history. (still want a stratoliner :))

  6. There's at least some truth to that. My nephew wanted a bike a couple of years ago. Tried to buy a VTX 1300 Honda and Honda Credit denied him. His credit really was bad. He then went to the Harley dealership. He ended up buying a used Harley that cost more than the new VTX that he was looking at. Was approved through Harley credit with no problem.

I know a year or so ago though that Harley Credit had to refinance a LOT of their debt and did so at a MUCH higher rate. Warren Buffet ended up financing about 300 or so million dollars of it at around 15% or so interest.

I just did a search and found some info on this:

    http://www.my68flh.com/2009/02/04/harley-gets-600-million-bail-out/

Yup. Talked about that in the article. 15% is a good rate of return huh?

Harley-Davidson Financial Services, the consumer lending arm at Harley, needs about $1 billion in funding this year to continue providing new motorcycle loans to its customers. It also has a $500 million bank advance that’s due in March.

  7. I heard that company was gonna decrease production of thier bikes so folks would have to get on a waiting list to buy one...then they would get sticker price plus what ever they wanted to ask for them. Like they did several years ago. If I remember right...a used bike sometimes brought more than a new one...cause you could get the used one without haveing to wait 6 months to a year for it. So you folks who have them now...get ready to get top price for them.

    Not me...:no-no-no:

The Cycle World article touched on that. Then, a new CEO took charge and said build 500 thousand of them. Also stated "why are we selling sportbikes?" (Buell)

Add to that HD had a lot of money to loan. They financed everyone, good or bad. Talked with my Yamaha salesman and he said years ago he could not get financing for most customers but HD could. Even with a low credit score.

Everybody was going to ride a Harley! Not so. They have to cut production. No one is buying them.

During the first quarter of 2010, worldwide dealer retail sales of new Harley-Davidson motorcycles decreased 18.2 percent compared to the prior-year quarter. In the U.S., retail sales of new Harley-Davidson motorcycles declined 24.3 percent for the quarter and industry-wide heavyweight motorcycle (651cc-plus) retail unit sales declined 21.4 percent.

  8. The one under the seat does not look like a cigarette lighter plug. It is a two round terminal accessory plug. You can purchase the other half to plug into it from your dealer.

I should read more huh? :confused24:

Well, when it get's to hot to ride I'll pull the seat off for the Butler Mod and take a look.

  9. I have no sympathy for harley. A succesful businessman told me years ago, "You never get too big to get your britches busted." When times are good you need to remain humble and give service. Most harley dealers, not all, were pricks that had the attitude they were doing you a favor to let you buy one of their bikes. Our local dealership is still marking up $2,500 over msrp. That's insane. They need to be humbled.

I agree. Local HD dealership has the same attitude as you have experienced. I spent 40 minutes drinking a cup of coffee and not one person acknowledge my presence. Had the money to buy anything there. Unbelievable.

There was a very interesting article concerning the Buell and it's demise in last months issue of Cycle World. HD has been taking a bath for quite sometime due to several Management decisions.

  10. Had a 99 myself and really liked it. Are you getting the Interstate model?

The reason I ask, if you are not getting the IS order up some Interstate Carburetor springs. They are lighter and make a world of difference on the standard models. Easy to do and very inexpensive. Much quicker throttle response.

The springs were lighter due to the additional weight of the Interstate.

    Enjoy the new ride!

  11. Will give you something to think about anyway. I always liked this color.
