I have found that if you go to the store and pick one up off the shelf. There is very little chance of it being gone before you get to the check out counter.

MeanDog, You have friends in Colorado praying for you and your family.

Sounds like your computer is nearly as old as your bike!
Maybe they both need to be updated:rotf:

Check the Classifieds on this site. I also recommend the lift adapter if you are going to do any serious wrenching.
RR
I could not find this stand in the Classifieds! Is it just me, or do you have any other suggestions.
Thanks

Had the same strange "crunching" noise in the rear end of my 07. Started at about 500 miles.
At my 500 mi check up when I told my Dealer about the noise they said there was a Yahama Service Memo stating a lack of grease and in some cases the wrong grease was used. They removed the rear wheel, cleaned it up and re-greesed it with the proper grease.
I have 7500 miles now, no further noise.
You might want to give that a try.

I'm riding the Venture up there this year, and gonna be hanging with mostly Harley riders. (hey, I'll act like I'm on a slow bike!)
I ride my Venture "every year" I go with 5 friends, all of them ride Harleys. Whats cool is, at every stop, people look at my bike and don't pay much attention to theirs. I LIKE THAT. All the Harleys look the same, mine sticks out!
My 1st Venture was a 2002, traded it for my 2007 Midnight! both have been to Sturgis.

Seems to me that the best way to fix or repair a Gen 1 rsv is too take it to your local dealer and trade it in on a Gen 2:rotf::rotf:

I got my K&N filter kit and Chrome covers from my local Yamaha dealer. They work and look great! Look close and you can the Yamaha Star logo on the chrome cover!

If you look real close, you can see it just behind the kick stand. I attached it to one of the small holes in the undercarrage.
-
It was real easy! I had the dealer put it on, they charged me $35.00 and it works perfect!
