  1. I've been pretty busy so I haven't been able to peruse the site lately. So now you guys tell me that my 83 had this feature and I never knew it. I just fugured that it wasen't on the 83 because I tried to do it but it never would work. I've been all over that bike and allways told myself that the cancel feature was a nice safety feature and wished it was on the 83.. Well now I'm bummed because I sold the 83. I can't even tear into it to fix it just for my own curoiosity. Now thats gonna bug me. Oh well, shes gone. By the way it only sat in front of my house for about 5 hours before it sold. I put 2800 on it hopeing to get 2500. Which it did sell for. Here I thought I was asking to much for a 83. A group of boys stopped to look at it on their bikes and the one said he would be back tomorrow. About 1 hour later they showed up with a check from one of the boys father. The boys father bought it sight unseen except from the picture on the boys phone. Just from what his son said. Trusting dad don't you think? I'm gonna miss that bike the wife and I went all over on that thing and it never let us down. I had a Venturerider sticker on it so maybe he will be on here sometime so don't scare him away will you guys. I kinda want to keep in touch with the old trusty friend somehow.LOL:D

  2. Sounds like your clutch slave is whipped or the handlebar master. Rebuild or e-bay another one and I bet you will be good to go. Hard to repair? That is up to you and how mechanical your feeling. Go to the Yamaha website and take a look at the location, then decide. You say you did not lose any fluid. I would guess{mind you guess} that the master is leaking by therefore it never pushes the slave to disengage the clutch. A-

    la,grind,stall, ouch.:2cents:

  3. There is a Yamaha dealer on Peninsula Drive called Chet Alexs Yamaha. There is another one off I-90, south on Route 8 about 4 or 5 miles called Off-Road express this is the better of the two. Doubt if they will be open on Sunday though. I will do some calling around to some friends tomorrow. One might have a used tire for you. If they do I'll call.

Cycle city built a new facility on Peach street south of I-90 they might be open tomorrow. They are the biggest dealership in the area.:2cents::D

  4. It was a sliver moon on a clear summers night. The air so crisp you could slice it. The Big Dipper is pouring out all of summer. I and the evil one are sitting out front of the Ponderosa watching the evenings festivities unravel around us. The powers that be in our small town have dwindled down to be so small that fireworks town sponsored {Fire tax} have become non-existent. So sitting in the front yard we wait, pretty soon one bang over here two over there. YES INDEPENDENCE DAY!

What is it? The thought almost escapes me. But then I walk through my local cemetery and see the markers. I REMEMBER. Freedom isn't free.It never stops, someone always want what you have but doesn't want to pay the hard price.

It remains to be seen if we can hold on to this idea, but we do have the vote. It isn't perfect but were working on it.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE GAC:D

  5. Sounds like one of your carbs has a piece of crap floating around in the float bowl. This is holding the float open causing it to run out of one of the overflow lines that come from the carbs. There are four overflow lines that dump the excess fuel out somewhere just ahead of the rear wheel. This happened to my 86 all so. I unhooked the gas line from the tank and let it suck up Sea-foam into the carbs. This I let set for the night. It smoked like crazy the next day but it had dislodged the offending junk. If you don't want to do this just follow the hose to the offending carb open the drain and sometimes it will clear out the debris.:2cents::D

  6. Sorry to hear the news J.T.. Hang tough and remember one day at a time. Prayers sent. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks ago. She is going through all the hoops now to see what the best answer is in her case. We will know in a few days from now.

  7. If you find the plummer tell him to hurry up and fix those leaks. Summers here but you couldn't prove it by me. We have been in the same boat as you Charley. I've got about 90 acres of round bales to do but it never dries out long enough! :250::bawling:

  8. I for one am tired of the blame games. Enough already. Like has been said on this forum many times lets stop talking and start doing. I for one will now turn on my new more efficient light bulb. Mow less yard. Drive my bike more. Make lists of things to get when driving to town. Not leave any combustion engine idling for any length of time {waiting for trains}. Recycle all metal and plastics that I can. Stop using chemical fertilizers and "save the World". This whole mess is everyones problem now and if not addressed now our grandchildren will inherit one throughly screwed up world.

But who cares, I've got enough money to do what I want. That is so short-sighted and egotistical.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone, somewhere powerfull enough gave a darn what is happening to our once strong countries. But alas it will never be. For with power comes greed.:mo money::soapbox:

  9. GREMLINS. Must be due to condensation if nothing else:confused24:. Some things in life sure make you wonder. The only thing I've been carring around "just in case" is a TCI unit. Filled up the connections with lube and taped them up watertight. I tried it last month and its still working:fingers-crossed-emo. The best thing yet to carry around is the venturerider help list. Heres hoping I never have to use it. Hate bothering people{except on here} but sometimes it can't be helped.:D

  10. I was :think:ing. Over a  that a while back our :biker: leader had said that it was time for a contest. So I've been doing nothing but :fiddle:ing around lately :bang head: ing my head in anticipation of :draming:ing of winning big. But I'm :confused24: . Because :backinmyday: I used to be:happy65:when I entered even if I was :depressed: that I lost. Anyway it doesn't have to be any big:mo money:to win. Any :detective: will tell you its not how you:stirthepot: its how you keep your :fingers-crossed-emo that makes the days go by. Heck, right now I could win :2cents: and be one :whistling::farmer:.

  11. Just my luck. Log on and find a controversial post that has been already deleted. Now I'll never know.:crying: I was just thinking that everything lately is beginning to be mundane. Now this proves it. Guess I'll just have to go back to watching the grass grow.:confused24::D
