  1. Thanks for the links. We have no set time yet for the trip as it all depends on the weather to get the farm buttoned up so we can ride. It will happen but the exact time is fluid. I figure we can do it at our pace in 6 days round trip maybe more maybe less..:happy34:

  2. Bridgestone 350 now that is a step back in time. I had a friend who bought a green one new. My first bike was a Bridgestone 90. Rode the h3ll out of it. Bought a Bridgestone 100 and Motocrossed it back in the 70s. Had lots of fun on those old bikes. One of by buddies back then had a Bridgestone 175 Scrambler that he stripped put knobby tires on it and built expansion chambers for it out of the upswept exhaust. That thing sounded so sweet! He motocrossed it too, back then it was run what you brung. Finding a 350 Bridgestone has to be like finding a needle in a haystack anymore.

  3. You Guys are NOT helping!

    We forgot 'The Attic'!

Same size as the five bedroom-plus-Family-Room second story, and now FULL of Three Kids Stuff, along with our dearly beloved-but-now-departed Martyr-In-Law's "Don't you DARE throw that away!" furniture. Two buffets, one large Hutch, a FULL dining room suite!!, several 'priceless' chairs, and Organ that plays if the humidity drops below 30%.

There's also another boat 'n trailer: a 12 footer with nearly new Yamaha 10 hp o.b., which was supposed to go to the youngest (44) Kid and Family, so they could learn to fish the Detroit River. That lasted ten days and one large wave from a passing Freighter, before The Kid reloaded with an 18 footer, and... we drove six hours to get it back! (Sigh.)

Clarification: before anybody jumps in to accuse us of too much horn tooting, wait until YOU hit 76, with Kids 'n Grand Kids, and have (had) a nearly empty attic. We didn't want this barn; it came with the shoreline property we bought to retire on, so we could live out our Golden Years in peace and tranquility.

    We may need therapy...

I have to laugh at your pain. We too have a attic, but it is really a unfinished bedroom. It is packed to the gills with what I couldn't tell you, but none of it is worth the powder to blow it up. Last time I opened the door to put something up there I literally fogged it on top and closed the door. My son came home from the Army 5 yrs ago and has been living in our upstairs apt. filling it up too. The rest of my children seem to think my place is a storage locker also. I bought a semi-trailer at a auction 3 years ago to store my workshop stuff in until I finished redoing it {basically a total revamp} and my daughter has taken it over too. Someday I'm going to have a large bonfire. :225:

  4. Migawd, wish we hadn't started reading THIS thread!

This coming Fall we will be 'downsizing' in MAGNUM mode. At 76, we already had to give up cutting the 2.5 acres of grass. If it doesn't stop snowing SOON, plowing our 1,000' driveway is gonna be next.

THE PROBLEM: we live in a five bedroom barn with thirty-three 3' x 5' windows, many facing the waterfront. When the wind she blows from the Nort' by gar, you watch the needle on the 900 liter propane tank slide down... rather rapidly.

So... we've put down a deposit to hold a nice 3 bdrm, two story home on a quiet court in town. Unfortunately, the lot is locked in by neighboring properties on all sides, and there's only one double garage... compared to TWO double garages here, plus the 2.5 acres to park stuff on.

'All' we have to do is figure out where our beloved 15 yr old John Deere 4100 compact tractor with bucket, 54" snow blower, and power-angling plow fits in the equation, along with a 2014 Acura MDX, 2012 Honda CR-V, a 2016 Yamaha AWD Wolverine SxS, a 2012 full-size 400 cc Yamaha Majesty Scooter, and a 18.5' Smoker Craft Pro Angler 182XL tin boat. That's just the BIG stuff. The second floor has five bedrooms, plus a Family room big enough to hold a 4' x 6' pool table, which the three youngest Grand Kids LOVE.

We figure being in town - maybe just one truck; thereby getting the boat inside. But, that's as far as things have progressed at this point... one thing is certain; this is really gonna hurt!~

    Rgds, WRIDR

Not hurt, more like "OUCH" when you get rid of all that. The problem I see coming when it is time to downsize is getting rid of all the nick-knack- paddy-wack family heirlooms that have been collected through the years. Just asking the questions on what to do with this will bring on the tears from the evil-one. I've already figured it out that I've just got to make it longer than her. Good luck with that .Right!:rotf::duck::backinmyday:

  5. We are heading to Mt Washington, New Hampshire next year for a look see. Any other sights that are a must see close by? Any good motels? I did a search and there are plenty around but will go to one that gets a #1 from this site first.

  6. Next time you are in town bring her into my basement for some shock therapy......

With the crappy snow machine you've made I don't doubt it that there is a shock machine there somewhere on your property.:starz:

  7. He isn't selling his tickets, lol its joke he says he going to superbowl someone else can go to the wedding...:rotfl:

The superknealer bowl only lasts a few hours. He's missing out on a lifetime of Sheer wedding bliss!:whistling::whistling::rotfl::rotfl:

  8. I remember a while ago {OK maybe years ago} Condor you listed you venture collection {hoard}. Is it still the same or have you sold any of them? My son calls me a hoarder but is grateful when I appear with what he needs just for the asking. We who have had nothing when growing up but our needs tend to hang on to some weird stuff occasionally. I still have my old 72 Kaw and picked up my buddies old 72 kaw. Mine is on the short list for a complete go over next winter. My buddies after that. These are the bikes we rode west on back in 74. I have inherited my fathers 72 Kaw Bighorn that will be on the road this year for my morning coffee bike. I'm still hanging on to my old 70 Nova SS which is on a list to massage to. Hey, if nothing else it will be a interesting auction someday. So you see hoarding can be fun. :thumbsup2:

  9. They finally replaced the little crazy Japanese guy that did the 1/4 mile testing. I always knew that the only way any of the 1/4 mile times that they got was when they taped the throttle wide open and kicked it off of the centerstand. I figured he was about to retire about now and they couldn't find anyone crazy enough to replace him! :nanner:

  10. Although I do not ride a 2nd gen I would not hesitate to ride my 86 anywhere I can point it for as long as it takes. You ask if there are any problems. I believe this link can answer any and all questions that pertain to the 2nd Gen Venture. This site is the best place to be for any and all help with problems, bike or otherwise. Welcome.:happy34: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?87-Known-Problems-and-things-to-look-for

  11. Sounds great. Lets see this is were I grew up. Ripley, N.Y.. The furthest town that you could get away from NYC. located as the western most town in N.Y. A once prosperous town that has had a population as high as 26,000 back in the 1800's. It now struggles as a town at all. There are no gas stations now, when there used to be 8 when I graduated high school. There is one bar left in the whole town, when there used to be 7 when I graduated high school. All factories are shuttered and torn down with no prospects left for employment. The only business left is farming which I do or I would have had to leave also. All this because of high taxation and bad state politics. But the sign says at the state line "Welcome to the EMPIRE STATE". Boy, that couldn't be any more right on. If we that are left could, we would gladly succeed from N.Y. just to get away from the big city tyrants. :bang head:

  12. That was an interesting read.

    Randy

Yes it was. This line especially. A new technique known as low-copy-number analysis can derive a full DNA profile from as little as 10 trillionths of a gram of genetic material, by copying DNA fragments into a sample large enough for testing. The technique not only carries a higher risk of sample contamination and allele dropout, but could also implicate someone who never came close to the crime scene. Given the growing reliance on the codis database—which allows police to use DNA samples to search for possible suspects, rather than just to verify the involvement of existing suspects—the need to consider exculpatory evidence is greater than ever.

Like I said before no excuses or ammunition.

  13. I wanted to do this but looked into it further by reading the fine print. Your info can be peddled and given to any gov't entity at any time without your consent when you buy into this. I know the old saying "If you have done nothing wrong you should have nothing to fear". I believe in the other saying "Don't give them any excuse or ammunition". :duck:I do have a sister that has spent a lot of time researching our past she says we have a descendant that came over on the Mayflower. He was probably a deckhand.

  14. Zipping down I 79 Southbound this afternoon when I saw ahead of me what looked like someone pushing a Motorcycle down the edge of the Interstate!!! Stopped and Mature Gentleman was pushing A 99 softtail uphill!!! He had bought it in Pittsburg and was heading for Oklahoma!!! The thing had sat a while before he started out and it seemed to be having fuel problems. More of the stuff they call Gas Now!!! Got him a rollback and ride to Charleston. Had no tools in car!!! Gonna put some back in there Tomorrow!!! I know I could have had that thing running in 20 minutes. At least I helped him git on down the road!! Gave him Site addy!! Hey George where Ya At???

You done good Yammer!:happy34: He now has a website to come to when he sells that problem bike:bang head: and buys a Yamaha:happy65:. :stirthepot:

  15. Now I don't doubt that that record was a hit but I never heard it that I can remember. In the 70's I was more a rock and roller than country. We had a country station in the next town called WHYP radio. It was a one man operation, the guy would put on a record and go to the bathroom or get his haircut, go shopping, who knows what he did. The records would run end of the record static for a lonnnngggg time sometimes. You don't hear anything like that anymore.:hurts:

  16. Think Cowpuc needs to have them at his Hot Dog smashes!:Avatars_Gee_George:

It might cost some money to get them there. They are from Finland.:mo money:He is going to have to charge admission. I'm game if you can entice them. Who knows they might just come for the dogs if pucs sales pitch is good enough.:fingers-crossed-emo
