  1. We made it home around lunch time today. I think we lived about the closest, but we still stayed the night outside of Memphis. It got late and cold, so we stopped just outside of Memphis and got a room for the night.

Had the best time meeting everyone and going to Ronald McDonald House. It was awesome and yet very emotional. Squidley made a great presentation with the check. Had us all choked up in remembrance of Mean Dog. We are really proud to be a member of this group, whom we now call "family".

I didn't count the bikes or people, I just knew we had a good turnout, or so I thought...since it was our first here.

Hey Bill..did you count the "crotch rocket"? Just kidding! Our son, Jason, really enjoyed riding with us and getting to meet you all. He has done several charity bike runs for other causes and appreciated being invited to this one.

I am not sure what you wanted me to elaborate on..but I chose this screen name because yes, my son flies the B2 Stealth Bomber in the Air Force. Well at least he did when I joined this site. He is now an instructor pilot for the T-38 and is stationed in Columbus, MS. We are very proud of him. Will post some pictures at a later date.

Hope everyone else made it home safe. Again, it was a great (and just a little bit cool) ride. Not sure how the Northerners weathered the cold. But we would do it all over again and certainly are making plans for next year.

Lewis...glad you got to take home some of my money. Enjoy!!

  2. We are planning on being there Saturday at the Flying J by 11 or so. We are so excited about this because it is so close to our home.

Squidly, we could meet you at the rest area just past Jackson, TN and ride into Memphis with you. I believe it is between exits 76 and 68 on I-40. It's about an hour out of Memphis. If you don't know what time you might be there or don't feel like a quick rest, we can just meet you at the truck stop. Just let us know what you think.

Our son is also meeting up with us at the truck stop, from Mississippi. It looks like we are going to have a good group. See everyone there.

  3. b2mom and I will be there. Riding from NW Tennessee if anyone wants to come along. Plan on going down there Saturday morning and coming back that evening...but may decide to stay the night in Memphis. Hadn't really decided yet...alot depends on the weather. Also, our son is meeting us from there from Columbus, MS. Hope we have a big group! Can't wait to see everyone.:sun: Keeping fingers crossed for good weather!

  4. We just got home and wanted to thank you, Don and Eileen, for hosting this event. This was our first event ever, with VentureRiders, and it was more than I ever expected. I really didn't expect everyone to come work on my bike. The only thing I had planned was for V7Goose to put in my windshield vents...and next thing I know...he and Muffinman had my bike torn apart! haha! I didn't mean for them to spend so much time on my bike...I guess they just wanted to work on a new Venture, haha! But I so appreciate everything they did and what they showed me how to do for future maintenance. (Thanks guys!)

The food was great and there is nothing wrong with catering it...especially with such a large crowd. I haven't been a member for long, but nobody there was a stranger. My wife (b2mom) couldn't get over how many women were there and how friendly everyone was. Thanks to Yama Mama and MiniMuffin and all the others whose names escape us!

For the next time, (and this is just my opinion) maybe a list could be set up of who wants what done (keeping it brief) and catering the food is fine. That way maybe Freebird and all the others who spent their day working on bikes would be able to visit with everyone more.

Sorry this is so long...but just wanted to say thanks to EVERYONE for such a great time. Can't wait for next year!:cool10:

  5. V7Goose

Sounds great in regards to the vents. Would appreciate you making time to put them on for me. By the way, I will be driving an '08 RSV Black Cherry / Black. I have had it just over a month and already have over 4000 miles on it.

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone. We are leaving Wednesday and taking the scenic route. See you all there!:cool10:
