I have a 2005 venture that the previous owner gave the "streetglide" treatment to. I'm replacing the faring speakers with Polk DB402 and eventually an amp. My question is how can I add speakers to the saddlebags without running wires from the faring to the rear? Is there a relay I should look for, or existing wiring that would be tucked up some where? Just in case I don't have the trunk so I have no idea where an audio hook up would be.

I'm trading in my RSTD on a midnight venture and was wondering if the driving light from the RSTD will fit on the venture?

I have an 05 RSTD the fuel gauge and clock works but the speedo trip and odo doesnt move. Any thoughts

It's a trailer store USA fairing. If you have the OEM windshield the fairing becomes quick release. The overall quality is pretty good. The only issue that I have is the stereo section doesnt line up directly with the speedo without looking awkward. There is about a one inch difference between the face of the speedo and the fairing. I'll take a picture and try to upload it

I work with a guy who does hydro dipping. We've been talking about graphics or solid colors on the fairing and painted parts

I just put a batwing fairing on my 05 RSTD. Just need to add a stereo and speakers.

Update: I'm reviving my own dead thread. After doing the touch test, I found the front right cylinder was the problem. With a can of carb cleaner and a printout from cowpuc's "how to clean carbs" I was ready to start the job. After taking off the tank, I decided to change the plugs while I was there and lo and behold the front right plug was wet. So a quick plug swap and a short ride it seems like a dead plug was the issue.

Well I have plenty of starting points for this weekend. Can the motor mount be removed without removing the gas tank

This may sound dumb but how do I check for spark with a screwdriver?

I have an 05 RSTD and it seems to run on 3 cylinders unless I hold the gears to red line ( or at least close to it) before the other cylinder kicks in. The motor smooths out and get a little quieter. My question is it a carb issue, throttle issue, could one of the carbs not be opening when the throttle is engaged, blocked main/pilot/jet, spark plug? I'm almost certain it's the front left cylinder, only because it's the coldest of the four pipes after a ride.

I'm in the process of customizing my 2005 RSTD in the lowrider style. I have sunpie (daymaker knockoffs) led headlight and driving lights, and lowered the bike 2 inches. Aside from sliding the forks down the triple trees, is there any other way to lower the front end of the bike?

There are exhaust reduction couplings that you can find on Amazon pretty cheap. Or even most auto parts stores. So if the Y pipe from your bike and the mufflers have a different diameter that would be a easy way to correct that

Search Ebay for a used set of RSTD mufflers/exhaust. Pre 2008 road king mufflers should also work. You will need a 2 P clamps and a bracket to hold it in place (there's a write up and diagram on how to do the swap). The price is going to be about the same for both, the road king muffler is going to be a little deeper sounding with out being overly loud. Can't help with the fan sorry about that one.

I had a Vstar 650 with 18's that I use to spend hours riding with no issues. Also the ride on the RSTD is so much nicer

I have the apes from khrome werks, $74 on Amazon, and they have a tendency to have a shorter end rise. So installed the 16's are 13's, the with some rerouting I shouldn't have to extend any cables or wiring. Dog bone lowering kit is about $180 installed. The only thing I'm not sure about is the exhaust. I do know Samson will fit our bikes with a modified exhaust bracket, but they are expensive even used. The sub $200 slip-ons on Ebay look questionable aswell.

I've been toying around with the idea of making my 05 RSTD a lowrider style bagger, or softail style. Our bikes are the direct competition to the Harley Road king, so why should they have all the fun. I have a set of 16 inch narrow apes from khrome werk and I'm looking on Ebay for fishtail slip on exhaust. The only part I'm kicking around is keeping the bags on or riding bagless.[ATTACH=CONFIG] 112950[/ATTACH]

Hi all. I just bought an 05 RSTD and I'm not disappointed. My only issue is how low the handlebars are. I raised them a few degrees but the wrist angle is a bit rough and I can see it being uncomfortable on longer rides. I saw someone on the forum had khrome werks sweepers bars but I cant seem to find that thread. I'm thinking about putting 10 inch bobber bars on, because of the neutral wrist angle, and no need to extend cables or wires. Or the sweepers if anyone can give me any input on them.
