  1. The reservoir will be the same for the royal or standard venture so yours will work. I don't have a picture here at work with me. I'll try to load one up later at home.
  2. Hey everyone. I broke my rear brake reservoir for my 83 Venture. I need a replacement. Anyone have an extra one they want to sell or give away? -Ryan
  3. 1983 Venture (standard) Black Manufactured 03/83 JYA26H004DA004490 44,600 MILES
  4. Thanks for clearing that up. The internet has the same part with the two separate names which caused my confusion. However, yes it should be the air cut off valve. Thank you.
  5. I started rebuilding the carbs on my 83. Have a question for those experienced with these carbs. The "air cut off valve" or sometimes called the "carb enrichment valve" is causing some concern. The plastic/rubber diaphragm seems to be a little rough. It's not very flexible and the internal side appears to have the surface cut a little. There are no holes straight through the material just that internal side of the diaphragm isn't in the best shape. I don't know how this item is supposed to look. The carbs appear to never have been touched since new as the anti-tamper screws on the carbs don't appear to have ever been turned. Should these valves be really flexible? Will having them in a rough shape still make them usable? I've found replacements range anywhere from $16 all the way up to $67 each. If I don't have to replace them I'd rather not but will if necessary. Any input is appreciated.
  6. Yep, that's exactly what happened. I didn't realize how soft the cast aluminum was but should have known better.
  7. Thank you for the offer. I do have an old plastic reservoir off a Kawi that I can use. I'll have to make some sort of custom mount for it but it shouldn't be too difficult.
  8. I agree it's too much. Maybe a member here will have an extra laying around then. I'm de-linking....I wonder if a smaller reservoir can be used. Guess I'll have to research.
  9. Was working on flushing the brake lines on my 83 and had a bit of a mishap. I was able to flush the front with no problem. When I went to the rear I attempted to take off the "fill" bolt on the side of the m/c. I used slight pressure....no hammers or breaker bars... and the whole side of the m/c busted off with the bolt still in the threads. That's fun. This bike, despite the PO's statements, has been sitting for quite a while. Lots of frozen bolts and nuts, lots of dirt and grime and all of the fluids are disgusting and haven't been changed in years. No problem, got this bike for a song and wanted a project.....but I can't find a suitable, reasonably priced replacement. Found one on eBay for $120!!! That's more than 1/3 of my purchase price. Anyone have one laying around they want to sell? Suitable aftermarket replacements to suggest? Any other purchase options? I considered just outright replacing it with something else but wanted to get some feedback from others first. edit: I should have been more clear if it wasn't obvious....I broke the reservoir.
  10. Hella horns have been working quite well for me. I had a set of two on my car for two years and they are incredibly loud, 118db when connected directly to the battery. When I sold my car I gave them to my father who has them on his V7 Guzzi. They are mounted right out in the open. No issues with weather or deterioration after two years on his bike. Still loud. If you look around you should be able to find a website selling them for about $50/pair. I'll be putting a new set on my Venture when she's road ready.
