  1. Now, that Grossglockner pass is something I would love to ride. Looking at that website, noticed this "pro-active" appeal to riders - very interesting.

    Biker advantages

    • "Bikers Point“ on the Grossglockner as an exclusive meeting point and information point with reserved parking for motorcycles at the Edelweiss Peak at an altitude of 2,571 meters
    • Special biker parking at the major attractions along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road
    • Free "biker safes“ for helmets, jackets, etc. on the Grossglockner at Kaiser Franz Josefs Höhe and at the Hochtor.
    • "Bikers Nest“ at the Edelweiss Peak with special information for bikers on the history of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road
    • Convenient ticket sale in the information office at the Ferleiten cash point (peak periods only)
    • Supplementation of the information system with biker-friendly accommodations
    • Reduced Tour4 ticket: includes a day ticket for the Grossglockner, Gerlos and Nockalm Roads in the same season and entitles the holder to purchase a reduced ticket for the Villach Alpine Road.
    • Maximum grip material is used to resurface the pavement, especially to repair cracks in the curves :clap2:
    • Continuation of the guardrail replacement program to protect bikers against sharp-edged guardrails / crash barriers

  2. Owl, you definitely hit the nail on the head - great post, and you're right, it IS the people - their families, etc., from this site that makes putting on these events so enjoyable and fun - for everyone. As a "host" of this event, while any "party" may have its peak and/or valley planning the event, it IS the people who come / participate / mingle making new friends and reuniting with those they know, that definitely make the event and at least for myself this time, everyone attending and having fun made this one of the happiest 5 days (thereabouts) I have ever participated in. Like Owl, I truly agree and suggest anyone to attend any of the events put together by others from this site, you will never regret the experience.

And who knows, you may learn a trick or two - like topping off the tank before you go for a ride! :stickpoke::doh::confused07::rotf::no-no-no:

  3. I am devastated to read this - just got home from a very long ride today and this is the first thing I saw - both here and on Facebook. Saw Ponch and LilBit again - at the Cody Rally - and as everyone mentions - just two of the most wonderful and caring folks I have ever met. Definitely in our prayers - and thanks, Squid/Lonna for keeping us updated and sharing positive information (as positive as it gets) regarding Ponch. Let me know if there is anything I could share / do from out here.

  4. A friend of mine this morning asked me if the CHATTERBOX GMRS-X1 Bluetooth Bike-to-Bike Communication System would work and communicate with a Venture CB (and/or I might think the J & M set up as well, etc). I spent some time looking through Chatterbox's website, varopis magazine articles, WebBike World's site, etc., and can't find that specific answer. My belief is that Chatterbox is only peer to peer - and though they state that they have 22 channels to communicate with/from, is that with regular CB radios - or only peer to peer?

Thanks in advance for any guidance regarding this. :confused07:

  5. Rocket, what kind of gas were you using in the bike? That Canadien gas must get great gas mileage - seeing that you only stopped at gas stations in Canda - :rotf::stickpoke:

Glad to see you both are back home safe - can see a movie now - Mr. Rockets Wild Ride!
