  1. Drove a slingshot at Rapid City, it was a fun ride but you lose too much of the bike feel. It would be fun to have but for now I'll stick with a venture. The new F3 spyder looks like it would be a better fit for me than the regular spyder. Just my:2cents: worth.

  2. Hey Rob, I also went from a Warrior to the RSV. Quite a difference. To make more room on the RSV I took the boards from the back and mounted them on the front to make more room when your feet are down. This is the first bike I have had with boards. Last week I lowered the front shocks and it handles much better now, I put the 130 Michelin on last year and that helped. I've only had this a couple years so still changing things. You will really like the bike when you get some miles on it. You can also change the seat to give you more room, the corbin seat will move you down and back. Have fun with the new ride.

  3. Hey Eck, that does look good. It got above freezing here today, felt pretty good. That good looking bike is in all the pictures except the two. That wing does float doesn't it? :stickpoke: All the old barns up in this country have pretty much been torn down but it is nice to see.:thumbsup2:

  4. Just run across this looking at Indian in Sturgis, they have an 06 RSMV for $4500. They also have 2 Roadmasters in stock according to their website. Look them up, it can't be all that far from Idaho. The new place up there is pretty nice. I am 150 miles from Sturgis, so I get up there several times in the summer. Hope you find a bike soon, they say spring is just around the corner. See ya. :fingers crossed:

  5. Does anyone know the companies that take the action shots at Sturgis?

One of the companies is "mspevents.com" There is also one that is always at Black Hills Harley, they may be able to tell you who, I can't find it right now.

  6. The used 06 RSV I got last fall had them, they didn't work with the switch so I took the actuator apart and moved them manually. I could tell the difference but not as big a change as on the video on their webpage. I plan on taking them off this winter to see if the flap or whatever is inside is opening and closing completely. If you figure out a good way to change them manually, let me know. I like the way the big pipes sound but it certainly is not very loud. When the wife's 1100 vstar is running {with aftermarket add ons} beside mine I can't hear mine at all. :thumbsup2:

  7. Just to add another rumor:stirthepot:. Talking with the factory rep at Sturgis- he said several new models will be introduced at AIM but not the Venture. He said that next fall would be the soonest for a new model:confused24:, hopefully by the rally so I can ride one.

  8. Kirby,

I put a set of MCII's on last fall. The steering is quicker, more like power steering compared to the old tires. Going down the highway you have to be more aware, you can ride with no hands :no-no-no: but it takes more input than with the Warrior I am used to riding. I would not call it squirly like some have in previous posts {if you do a search you will find lots of comments on this tire} it is just more sensitive that the old tire. I have not had a chance to really try it out on the curves yet. :bikersmilie:

  9. Hi folks,

I am starting a new thread to see if there is any newer info (experiences) as most of the past threads on this topic date back a few years.

In my last thread, I was seeking advice on replacement tires and I have narrowed it down to the Michelin Commander II's. In order to have a matched set of Commanders, I will need in the following sizes (Bias Ply):

front - non stock (130/90-16) - it is not available in stock (150/80-16) size.

    back - stock (150/90-15)

In the past threads some have mentionned having gone to the smaller size in the front and finding the handling to be too light and as a result have moved back to stock.

Now that the Commander II has been out for more than a couple of years, I would be interested in finding out if others are using the above tire and size's and what your experience has been in using them.

Also found this tire size comparator site that shows a graphic representation and comparison of different sizes:

Again, thanks in advance for your help!

    while others

Bert, I got a 05 RSMV last fall, the PO had run the tires low on pressure, I replace both with the Commander 11's. I really like the way it handles. I have had a Yamaha Warrior for 11 years that handles fantastic. The stock front tire on the Venture is just too big for handling, I have not had a chance to get up to the Black Hills to test it out in the twisties yet, but it does handle better on the flat ground. Hope this helps a little. :080402gudl_prv:

  10. Hey Phoneman,

I'm up here in Gordon, we have a foot or better with a lot of wind. Still snowing just a little, but not anything like Rapid City got. A lot of branches down but at least still have electricity. Had to move the Venture to get the snow blower out this morning and this is just the beginning.

    Ride safe everyone. :cold:
