rear wheel needle bearing

Recommended Posts

can anyone here inform me which way the needle bearing on left side of rear wheel is installed into the rim, as the needle bearing has an oil seal built into only one end of it, so not sure if it is seal end is installed facing in or facing out, but if facing out there is also another bearing seal which presses in as final seal, all help appreciated!!20160903_072452.jpg20160903_072438.jpg20160903_072413.jpg20160903_072306.jpg20160903_072245.jpg20160903_072257.jpgScreenshot_20160901-140006.jpg

You'll need to think this one through. The whole bearing situation in the wheel is a system that needs all parts to be able to work properly.

First there is a bearing on the one side (half sealed) then there is a spacer in the middle and then the needle bearing on the opposite side. The spacer keeps the bearing in place so that they cannot be pressed in too far into the wheel. There is also a ring spacer fitted to the bearing spacer to keep it from falling away from center so that you can shove the axle through when the time comes.

The needle bearing is inserted into the axle with the installed seal going to the center of the axle and seated on the collar in the wheel. The inside race of the bearing actually rests on the center spacer that sits between the bearings on either side. The smaller diameter part of the center race faces out to accept the outer seal.

Hope this helps.
