Middle gear shiming

Has any one ever done this before? Is there write up any where?

If you are you referring to the the shims at the back of the middle gear that adjusts the backlash, there is a good demonstration on Damon Farraiuolo's video of the complete reassembly of the Vmax engine. He demonstrates the proper measuring of the backlash using a dial indicator.

I haven't looked at the 2nd Gen. manual, but I have done this on a 1st. Gen, and the manual has all the info. you need.

 

I tried, but the 2nd Gen. manual won't come up this morning, but.....you can find the procedure and the shim table here.
