However, my old plug wires have at least 1 to 3 layers of protective corraggated(sp?) plastic over them. Similar to trailer or truck wiring. It is usually split lengthwise, but this is not. Is this necessary or even original? If I use this again, there was no use in ordering yellow wires because they will all be covered up. It protects the wiring from external damage and shields it from heat. It will also prevent unintended grounding. So, "Is it necessary?" Probably not. "Does it help?" Definately......... I made up a set for mine and if you get each of them the correct length they'll stay nice without worrying about needing to protect them.
