Pulsing front brakes

Recommended Posts

Okay, applying the right handlebar brake causes the feeling of the brake pads pulsing, as if the rotars are warped.

It is most likely a warped right rotor, but it could also be caused by oil or some other contaminant localized to a small portion of the rotor. I've experienced such a pulsing on my '83 that was from a leak of the fork seal. During a lay-up, the fork oil seeped down the lower fork leg to the axle and onto the rotor leaving a narrow streak of oily stain.

Try a rigorous cleaning of the rotor with solvent. Remove the brake pads and inspect for wear and cleanliness. Perhaps, a light sanding of the pads as well. Glazed and/or oily pads sometimes cause a throbbing as well, although usually at a higher frequency.
