RAECOREP Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Hello, New to VR.Org. Hope I put this in right place, Has anyone found a good replacement for the seal around the trunk lid on 1st gen VR's? I put in 3/8" foam cord from local building supply and it worked great for about a day. All rattling went away and no more rubbing of lid and trunk. Now it is completely compressed in groove, allowing them to rub again. I can't find any dealers on line that carry it. All say "not available". Any suggestions?
MasterGuns Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 On one of my past 1st gens that had the same trunk issue I used the plastic stuff used to hold screen in place (the stuff that goes around the edge of a window screen). Sold the a couple years later and all was still good with the trunk.

Sold the a couple years later and all was still good with the trunk. +1 Find the smallest screen spline that the local home center has and push it into the groove. Make sure you remove the old.
