Guest tx2sturgis Posted January 18, 2014 #1 Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) The 2014 Ural Demo Tour is starting to make the rounds thru the USA...if you are even curious as to what one looks like in person, you might want to look over this page. 604 new Urals were sold in the USA last year. So... dont feel left out if you have never even seen one...there aren’t very many. The Ural is a lot of fun...but something equally impressive is the involvement that the Ural company has with its customers. You just dont see that very often anymore. Enough from me...heres the scoop: http://us7.campaign-archive2.com/?u=65f99527623c5cd60ddb3f161&id=6897ab5936&e=[uNIQID] And this link is embedded in the story: http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1073205 Edited January 18, 2014 by tx2sturgis

GeorgeS Posted February 6, 2014 #3 Posted February 6, 2014 Anybody know how the quality of the Ural Engines, compared with the old Bemer Boxer Twins. ( the older push rod bemers ) Not the new ones. I remember hearing stories of a million miles, on the lower part of the engines, and about 100K between valve jobs. For the old bemers, I had a 79, and it needed a valve job at about 70K. Just wondering how the Urals, compare to the old bemers, as to Quality, of engine parts, and how they hold up , as to high milage. ??

Some owners have ridden them 200,000 miles (or was that kilometers?) or more. I wont be doing that anytime this decade. How long can you wait for an answer?
Barrycuda Posted February 8, 2014 #5 Posted February 8, 2014 I rode one about 3 months ago, near me when some chap wanted to part with his. 2003 with under 2500km on clock. I am very intrigued. Was a cool test ride for sure. This model had the upgraded carb and brakes. What I like is they are like an all terrain vehicle with a reverse!!! Nice machine but needed work and wasn't budging on the sticker price.

A Ural outfit will never replace a proper touring bike...but for in-town transport, runs to the store, the diner, or the Dairy Queen, they are enormous fun. When the weather turns bad, snow or ice, and the 2 wheeler is parked inside, its time for the Ural to go make some snow-donuts!
