cruiserfan Posted November 5, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 5, 2006 I have a 06 RSTD, with 500 miles on it. I have noticed the front brakes squeal alot. I thought I might have sand in them, so the last time I cleaned the bike, I sprayed water up into the pads. No soap or cleaners, just water. Still squealing. Is this common, or do I have a problem the dealer needs to look into? BTW, I am having the 600 mile break in service done next week.
arhayes Posted November 5, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 5, 2006 You just need to put some anti-squeal compound on the backs (piston side) of the pads. You can buy it at Autozone or what ever brand of auto parts store you have. I usually buy it in a little foil packet for $1 or so. 1 packet will do both sides of the front - it only takes a little and I've only had to do 1 application through the life of the pads. Thanks for the info. I TOLD my dealership to take care of this since the bike is only a week old and has done this since I brought it home. They said no problem, "since it's under warranty"!
