Gdserlin Posted May 10, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) I did the stator and starter clutch on my 89. I had a moment as they say, I didn't appreciate the difficulty posed by the re installation of the shifter linkage. I convinced myself that I had it right a couple of times. I was wrong. If anyone can grab a few photos from a few different angles, it would be a big help. I appreciate the help. Thanks to you all. Venturous Randy Posted May 10, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 10, 2011 On the end of each shaft there is a score mark that goes where the slot is where the bolt goes. With that in mind, you should be able to figure out whether the linkage goes up or down behind the stator cover because I can not remember off the top of my head. dingy Posted May 10, 2011 Share #3 Posted May 10, 2011 Will this help? On the external shot, note the punch mark, lined up with slot. Gary
JoeKanuck Posted May 10, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 10, 2011 I rotated my shaft clamp...(or whatever the heck it's called)...to make the angle closer to 90 degrees. It made shifting easier and it will put less stress on the slot which holds the external shaft.
Gdserlin Posted May 10, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted May 10, 2011 Thank you to all. I think with the photos I can make this work!
