Spark testing

I was looking to spark test my plugs while off the bike (84 VR). Outdoor temp has been around -3 to 7C, and I can't get my bike to start. Just did a whole carb overhaul, charged the battery. Plugs have only 3000kms on them. Bike turns over fine, and for long enough before battery too weak, but no start. Took plugs out, and they are wet, so getting gas. Anyway, I have a 10000v transformer, and was wondering if I hooked it up to a plug to see if it is firing, would or could it harm them? Any thoughts

Also, would 10000v be enough?
