Tips for BUB slip ons

Recommended Posts

Looking for some ideas for different tips for the Bubs slip ons. Anyone know where to get different tips?

Thanks Richie R

Thought I remember someone posting about using Harley slash cuts. Also Bub sells different tips but pricy...... I've also seen some pics of the originals painted black that look pretty nice. What tip style are you looking for??

Or you can tap them and use chrome bolts. I used 1/4 by 24 size. What is a good way to get rest of the chrome off of them?

I took my tips to a shop here in town that professionally polishes metals. He ground the remaining chrome off, but admitted it was a PITA and wore out an 80 grit belt. Anyway the end product was really nice. I just dropped off a set of billet air filter covers and this time he's sending them out to a chromer to have them stripped. Here's a before and after. That is not chrome, but polished aluminum.

Here is what I had to start with. They turned out pretty good, but that alum. they used is very soft though. Sorry about the pics.

Not sure, I'll hunt around the garage tomorrow?!

If you do find them, and would like to get rid of them, I'd be interested. Thinking of having them polished out and maybe starting an exchange service. Seems like flaking Bubb tips are a huge problem.... That also goes for anyone else who might have a set taking up space in the garage.

Nope, Before I traveled the country I downsized. By downsizing I mean what I didn't take with me in the trailer I put into 5x7 storage! Not much of a pack rat and I guess the tips did not make the cut! Still have most of everything bike related such as original lowering links just not those bub tips.

Sorry!!
