MetricHarley Posted January 19, 2009 #1 Posted January 19, 2009 I am putting passing lamps on my RSTD. I put a relay under my seat following a post of Venture instructions. The instructions say that I should hook my relay switch wire to the blue with yellow stripe. In my headlight bucket on the large connector block there is a blue 14ga wire with yellow stripes going perpendicular to the wire. On the small connector block there is a blue 18ga wire with the yellow stripe running the length of the wire. Do you know which wire that I should use on a 2008 RSTD? Thanks
Guest tx2sturgis Posted January 20, 2009 #2 Posted January 20, 2009 Just use a standard test light, not one of the solid state types. The kind that actually has a small incandesent bulb in the handle. Dont use a digital multimeter. Attach the ground clip of the test light to something solidly grounded on the frame. Power up the bike, and probe the connector for the wire that provides power ONLY during high or low beam use, and only when the bike ignition is ON (not accessory position) When you find the correct wire, tap into that one.
MetricHarley Posted January 21, 2009 Author #3 Posted January 21, 2009 I will try that. Thanks for the input.
