  1. It's a bad shock. Mine looked just like that. Put on a Hagon shock for 2 up riding plus towing. 2 years ago. It's a great shock and was 1/2 the price of a Works shock. It's completely rebuildable. Hagon said that if it ever failed (which they doubted it would) to send it to them and they would send a new shock back to me. Said it was quicker to do that than keep mine for 2-3 weeks or so to rebuild. Hagon is a very well known Racing Suspension company in Great Britain. They seem to really know their stuff.

  2. Saw this a long time ago. Haven't see it in a long time. A refresher on it. Yamaha dealers often will often tell you they know nothing about the whine. Here's Yamaha's Service Bulletin info on it.

  3. Just some thoughts: Had a car once, a Pinto. I could drive it just fine for about 10-15 miles and then it would quit. Let it sit a few minutes and it would start right up and do fine for the next 10-15 miles then die. Found out there was rust floating in the fuel tank. When the car was running the fuel pump would suck the rust down until it clogged the screen. Car would die. Suction would end and the rust would float away till the next time.

A friend had a car where the coil would over heat and do that. When it cooled down, it would run again.

  4. Ive got a set of Mustang seats on my RSTD, 1 season old. They'll fit the Venture with a cheap L bracket added if you want the driver seat bolted down. I'm looking to do a swap for a set of Venture Pillow Top seats. My wife likes the pillow top passenger seat better than the Mustang one. What can I say :confused24: ?

    Thanks

  5. I have been looking at doing the same thing. I think that it is fairly straight forward, but I know that you will need the tank and the front mounting bracket that the ignition goes into. Due to the size/shape of the Venture tank that part is needed. Your Tour Deluxe ignition will fit into the Venture bracket and everything will bolt onto the frame the same. I haven't done mine yet but hope to get it done soon. I think that you need to use the float from the Tour Deluxe also as the wiring plug is different between the Tour Deluxe and Venture. Let me know how it goes for you.

What bracket are you talking about? Not sure what it looks like.

  6. Hope he does as well. I'm not the best mechanic, so the more info and input on this subject, the better. I've already purchased a Venture tank from ebay. Thanks anyway. Once I'm done, I'll have my 05 RSTD tank to sell if anyone know someone who needs it. It's in excellent condition, black and gray. $130 + shipping.

  7. Speaking of friends putting things on your bike.... While at a nice hotel a few years ago, I went out to my bike one morning and found that "my friend" ECK had put a "For Sale" sign on it and there were 2 people from India looking at it, wanting to test ride it. :whistling: Be careful of your friends....lol... , especially ECK!

  8. Ive got a Yamaha light bar on my 2005 RSTD. One of the driving lights got busted in it. Anyone know of an aftermarket 4 1/2" sealed beam light or replacement light I can replace it with? Yamaha said they're on back order till Oct ?

    Cheers,

    Steve

  9. Help, please. How in the heck do you get to the Member Vendor threads. I'm trying to get to Rick Butler and Carbon 1 's ads and contact info. I'm apparently not doing something right, I guess. I'd like to get my seat redone and a couple of things from Carbon 1. Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks,

    Steve
