  1. Looking for a stock narrow "Tank Cover part#4XY-2171A-00-00" without any pouches. Does anyone have one just laying around that you've removed when upgrading to a leather one with pockets ??? If it's the right price, I'll pay shipping costs.

    Thanks, Mike

  2. The first step I took was a copy of Leland's modification. It looked great, thanks Leland. Unfortunately, the heel part was still in the way when I placed my toes on the back of the floorboard. I then cut the heel part off shorter and drilled a hole and installed a stainless steel screw and acorn nut. Now I can still use the heel shifter, but also have complete freedom of foot movement over the whole floorboard.

  3. I too, like to be able to move my feet around on the floor boards. I was going to completely cut off the heal part, but then had second thoughts. This ( see attached picture), is what I've decided upon. With this modification, I can place my toes on the rear of the floor board, and still shift with my heal if I so desire. (Just not at the same time!!!)

  4. Hey all,

Just wanted to let you all in what looks to be a great product for Gen2 audio. It's called the VentureMP3 and it is on sale now till Oct 11, 2011. What it does is take the place of the CD Changer and is much smaller. With a 4GB SD card, it allows you to store and control up to 594 MP3 songs. It is controlled your standard audio head on the left handlebar and works just like the CD Changer, but now instead of 6 CD's you'll now have 6 folders, which each can contain up to 99 songs. Their web site is: http://www.venturemp3.com/

  5. Hello,

After riding my "new to me" '99 RSV for a few weeks, there was something about the control levers which I couldn't put my finger on. Oh.... that's it.... I have small hands and have now noticed that the shape of the Venture's levers are a bit odd. The designed shape don't really work well for a smaller hand. After searching around a little, I've come up with a solution, get yourself a hold of the OEM (or aftermarket) levers from the first generation Royal Star say a 1996 model. These levers have a different shape which is better suited to a smaller hand, and bolt right up to the RSV's master cylinders. Please see the attached pictures for a comparison.

  6. I don't have a set of Kenda K673's on my RSV ......yet. I do have a set on my Suzuki Volusia, and have 9300 miles on the rear and it still has about 1500 more miles of life. To compare I only got around 4700 miles out of the OEM IRC rear. For the price I think at least the rears are a good value. The the tread is deep and the casing is very heavy. It is my opinion that the rear has a ride similar to a Dunlop Elite 3. As far as the front tire goes, (when new) I feel there should be deeper tread to start with (130/90/16 size for Volusia).

  7. Let me throw in my 2 cents, I'm a new member here, but have been riding quite some time and belong to the Concours Owners Group and the Volusia Riders Forum. As far as the gas smell and the no start situation, I would say that (since you said you had left the petcock on before this happened) one of the carbs fuel inlet needle valves had stuck open and overflowed the bowl, then gas leaked into the cylinder. Now when a cylinder has raw gas in it, the engine will not crank over because the starter motor is not any where near strong enough to compress liquid gasoline, thus the engine did not turn over and it seem as if the battery was dead. This condition is called hydrolock. With these bikes it is very important to remember to shut off the fuel petcock every time one shuts off the engine. I hope this answer has shed some light on your problem. I'm really enjoying this site and my "new to me" 1999 RSV.

  8. Hello,

I'm new here, just picked up my 1999 RSV last week, love it so far. I've seen here on the site that one can mount a Venture Pillow seat on a RSTD. My question is has anyone mounted a RSTD front seat on a Royal Star Venture ??

    Thanks, Mike
