  1. Hang in there, BE STRONG! Don't let the cravings get to you. BTW are you quitting "cold turkey"? If so, that's tough. Try those nicotine patches, they worked great for me. I smoked for about 20 years, quit Sept. 5, 2002 the first attempt. You won't believe how much better and easier everything will be a year from now. :fingers-crossed-emo

  2. Being a Tennessee Titan fan the season has been over for me for quite some time :headache:

and I don't care who wins the Super Bowl but i gotta go with the Ravens. So 'til next season you can find me :fishin: or :Venture:

  3. IIRC the owners manual from the 2007 RSV that I totaled on page 9-1 it states

But you should NOT trust my memory and read your owners manual. If you don't have your manual you can register at starmotorcyle.com and download an electronic version for free.....

Thant means you can use API SG, SH, SI......... or any oil that says JASO MA on the label, but do NOT buy anything that has a API "doughnut" with the words "Energy Conserving" as it will have Molybdenum Disulphide in it which is GREAT for your engine and transmission but it will ruin your clutch in short order as it will leach the copper out of the plates, and make what is left of the friction material very slick, which is not what you want in a clutch.

here is an example I found on the Internet of what NOT to buy.

IF you are looking for a recommendation, I use Shell Rotella T6 as it is a full synthetic, JASO MA certified, available just about anywhere, and costs less per gallon than just about any other full synthetic. I get it at Advance Auto Parts or Walmart for about $20 per gallon.....

Don't forget to use a high quality oil filter!!!!!!!!!!!

What type of filter do you use :confused07: if you don't mind my asking.

  4. WOW!! You're lucky. I no tip expert, but my tips still had a lot of the chrome attached and it took a bunch to grind it off. I think if all the chrome had come off like yours I would have seriously considered the black paint route. However I'm pretty happy with the results I achieved.

If you're happy with 'em that's all that matters :thumbsup2:

  5. I didn't have to, the chrome peeled right off long before. I only sanded 'em to remove nicks and make 'em smooth. If you're thinking of trying it, I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

Didn't ride to work today but I can post pics later if you want

  6. Is that before or after you strip the chrome off?? If it's before, what are you doing to keep the rest of the chrome from flaking off and messing up the paint job??

  7. Bubs are a nice addition to the bike, but you need to be aware of one downside:

The chrome plating on the aluminum endcaps (or tips) will probably begin to peel and flake off most likely within a year of installation. This is due to the heat related expansion and contraction of the billet pieces.

Some owners have removed the tips and had them powdercoated black. Or a color that matches your bike is always a good choice.

However, being from the 'old-school', where worn leather jacket and gloves, torn levis, scuffed boots and scars on your face or hands mean you have been around for awhile, some peeling chrome on the endcaps is not a big deal to me.

Just thought you'd like to know about it.

A can of flat black bbq grill touch up paint will work just as well and is only about 8 bucks.
