  1. Been a while since I posted so I thought I would let everyone know what's going on with my 83 Venture Royale.

It is officially hot here in Phoenix now. Too hot to ride. My mechanic is taking the bike this week and will sync the carbs and fixed the throttle. The throttle response is poor when I come off the gas - it takes too long to get back down to idle.

The other issue I am going to have him investigate is the heat. The bike just feels like it is very hot in the area around my legs - much hotter than other bikes I have ridden. I want him to check out the cooling system and make sure everything is good to go.

Once I get the mechanics done, its off to the painter. I am having the bike painted in a metallic grey (same color as my 2004 F150). Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

  2. I am really enjoying my recently acquired 83 Venture Royale. I believe the radio speakers and in desparate need of replacement. Can someone tell me what size replacement speakers I need to get?

I don't want to take the fairing apart to see because I want to ride the bike up until I'm ready to do the speaker swap. Thanks!

  3. I'm not sure how well you can see it in this picture - definitely 2 colors. Look at the luggage or the side cover under the seat.

The red is a metallic color so it is likely the Crimson Sparkle. What the other color is, I don't know.

  4.

On the last page, there is the listing for the 1983 model (my model). Shows two colors - a gold and a crimson black.

My bike is definitely not gold. But there are definitely 2 colors on my bike which I believe are original. A deep red/purple and a gray or black.

Looks like the code for Sparkle Crimson Black is OAY. I'll take that to a paint store and see if they can show me a sample.

  5. $2.99 for the full version and the reviews in the app store are far from great....

Did you iphoners download from App store? If so, is it worth the $3 ?

There are some things that can NOT be done via iPhone broswer, like selecting a drop down box for searching......

I would not rate it as "great". However, it is far superior to using the browser. In fact, of all the apps I have on my apple, this is the only one I ever purchased. All the others are free apps.

Using the browser is troublesome because you need to move things around, resize, etc. The app formats it for the smartphone and only gives the critical information. I really like it.

You can try the free version of the app which I believe lets you read posts, but not reply.

  6. I've got a BlackBerry 8830, dowmloaded TapaTalk, but, get a message saying it's been decomissioned. Does that mean I must buy a different version? The one I downloaded is a Beta version. Thanks.

I didnt' even know there was a blackberry version. IF you find one that works, please let me know!

  7. Yes you can, and if you're nice to me I will send you the raw exhaust hangers needed for the mod, you drill the holes, clean and polish the aluminum...

There will be 2 metric bolts that you will have to buy, otherwise the hardware comes from what you take off for the center bolt and washer...

As far as the driver boards, be prepared to spend some bucks for them. The Ventureline setup is scarce and goes for pretty big bucks on Fleabay when they come up. If I recall right, there is some aftermarket ones available that sort of fit and go for over $400!

Will you please send me the exhaust hangers? I'm going to buy the ones in the classifieds. Thanks.

  8. Hi and welcome to the Site

Most likely, you'll have that fixed if you follow the Instructions in the following Thread.

Thanks Squeeze. You and I must have been typing at the same time. I edited my post asking if that was the logical next step.

I had been thinking it was the pressure sensor, but I'll do the re-soldering and see if that fixes the problem.

  9. I have an 83 Venture Royale with the CLASS. I get an E4 error. According to the service manual, I believe I am not getting the necessary +/- 5.0 volts input voltage.

If I tested this correctly, I checked the black/white and blue/yellow wire at the plug on the control unit itself (as opposed to the pressure senor). The troubleshooting diagram leads me to believe the unit is bad.

My question is the following: which unit? Are they referring to the pressure sensor, or the CLASS control unit (the computer itself)?

    Edit:

If it is the control unit, am I correct that the soldering process recommended here is a logical next step? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=493

I have already been to a junkyard looking for pressure sensor, but haven't found anything yet.

    Thanks.
