  1. OK Zane, We are narrowing this down.

Since he said he broke his rear master reservoir, I think that eliminates the front master reservoir !

    :rotfl:

But, alas I don't have one. I sold the spare to someone in a similar predicament. Seems the mounting on the reservoir is only one bolt. They seem easy to damage.

I think that a VMax reservoir could be made to work if you can't find a Venture unit.

    Gary

Ooop's! Sorry about that! Missed that one! But ain't the first time missin' something!:whistling:

That's what I like about this place, there's always someone smarter than me! Helps to keep ya humble!

    Thanks Gary!

  2. Okay, Brian,

First things first.....Welcome to the site!

Secondly the more information you give gets more information back. In other words, what kind of bike is bolted to your master cylinder. Which one is it? Front or rear? What year is the bike? How did you break it? Then after you provide us with that info, someone will be able to help ya.

Again welcome to the site and good luck!

Okay, I looked up your profile and you have an 83 Venture, so that's one step closer

  3. His results do look good.

But I wonder how many days it took and how many changes of bleach (read that as gallons).

I also wonder about the legality of the bleach disposal afterward.

There is a chromed plastic grill on my truck, I bought the truck that I have because it had the LEAST amount of chrome of the different brands for that year. This may be a good excuse to strip and paint the grill.

Not to worry about bleach diposal, just dump it down the crapper or your sinks and bathtub! Cleans them slick as a whistle! It may stink a little, but hey it's a toilet! They're supposed to for a little bit when yer usin' them!

  4. Someone called me this past Monday night to talk about the lights I just added and hit me at a really bad time. I didn't catch who it was.

The phone rang just as I had just put dinner on the stove and then a (former) BIL stopped by with a car we were buying. It just snowballed and I needed to postpone the call to attend the immediate things happening in the kitchen.

Didn't mean to be rude. Would be glad to chat about the lights (or anything else). It just hit at a really bad time.

Give me a call this weekend if you would still like to chat. Will be in the garage (fixing cars) or in the office (doing taxes) all weekend.

Just a thought, maybe check your caller ID if ya have it? You might be able to find 'em that way:detective:

    BTW, it wasn't me!

  5. Again, it doesn't matter if the Patriot Guard Riders are invited to this service or not. The PGR can NOT attend.

We need to understand that the PGR and it's body are bound by its mission parameters

and cannot go away from them! I am sure that as private people, their hearts are breaking for those little girls. They as the PGR must distance themselves.

The Supreme Court ruling on Snyder vs Phelps is a tragic result of our own system, but must be upheld as it stands. Only one judge (Alito) dessented and he did a valiant and intelligent dissention, but that's the way it has to be done. Very unfortunate for the Snyder Family that was exposed to the Phelps' vision! That kid was a hero and Phelps smeared him!

  6. Just joined Patriot Guard the other day and was wondering if anyone has made their own flag holder for their bike or has a source for one. Looking for one for my !st Gen. Appreciate any help here. Also anyone in my area a member. Would like someone to ride with to missions for the PGR.

    Thanks

  7. Bench grinder, horse shoe rasp, course sanding wheel on a drill might take a little while but like i said i got more time than money, any solvent that will disolve the ABS plastic will work, asetone 100% can be bought at paint stores, home depo, auto parts stores, the asetone turns the ABS grindings to mush, just have to play with it and see how it works, if you dont want to mess with it buy some of that oats abs glue, when you glue it , it melts the plastic together welding, bonding it together, some epoxy does not bond it together jb weld will stick for a while but it will not melt the plastic together, i had to redo a fix on the fearing done by a PO, the jb weld was comeing louse.

A second hand blender will do it!

  8. 26H-23144-00-00 is the dust seal used for the years 1983,1988 & 1989. I do not see the dust cap listing on partshark.com or the Part Fiche for 1990 - 1993 Ventures.

To me they are both the same from 1985 - 1989. But from 1990 -1993, I can not find the dust seal listing for the Ventures. Then in 1993, the VMax changed seals & dust caps.

    Gary

Gary, they put those fugly gators on the 90's. I took them off and used dust caps (seals) from pre-90's.

  9. Earl Harrell sells a very good upgrade to the original using new friction disks with an extra to replace the half disk and weak spring plate. It is a heavier spring plate and really makes a difference in performance. It completely eliminates the slippage these bikes can have with the factory setup at a fraction of the cost. Look up Skydoc_17 in the classifieds. I think he sells the complete kit for around $80. You can get by cheaper by just adding an extra spring plate and the full friction plate. I did mine and NO MORE SLIP! Then you really realize the power potential of this machine. Of course you can go with the Barnett. But hmmmmm, $80 or $300, what to do?:mo money::080402gudl_prv:

  10. Just don't forget:no-no-no: to put the stand back down Before you let the jack down!!!:stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot:

That is mine! I did that and also let the bike off a jack with the front wheel off! You have no idea what a PITA it is to get a bike off the floor with no front wheel. I had to rock it from side to side while my wife threw blocking under the frame until it was high enough to slide the bike jack under! WHEW! What a B***H that was! Sometimes I wonder if I have half a brain!:rotf:

  11. I am not sure about those first gen owners who have put on 50% more miles, but took 8 times longer to do so. Either the bike is too slow to accumulate miles at a 2nd gen rate, or it is too uncomfortable to ride. :whistling:

    Dave

I see a very large can of worms being opened with that statement!:whistling::rotf:

But all kidding aside, Good luck and hope you get your scoot back ASAP.

  12. A beautiful day here in Arkansas (temperature wise anyway)...and I got my bike out for a nice little 125 miles.

But sadly, the bike just quit for no reason. I was 17 miles from home.

I had the dealer come pick it up and they said it needed a link of wire and a fuse replaced.

Here is what they charged me:

    Towing: $48.00

    Fuse Replaced: $22.50

    Rewire Gustav Relay: $28.75

    Labor: $49.00

    _________________________

    SUBTOTAL: $148.25

    Tax (7.25%) $10.75

    _________________________

    TOTAL AMT OWED: $159.00

I have NO IDEA where I will get this exact amount of money? :bawling:

Off topic just a bit, but that's okay!

    Ohhhhhh......

    I get it now!
