  1. Maybe someone can help me with this. While going through my checklist of maintenance items while putting my bike back together I decided to look up the ignition timing procedure. I went to the manual and started reading the procedure. To my surprise at the end of the procedure I find out that the timing is not adjustable. So my question is, is it necessary to check the timing at all? Would checking the timing be more of a trouble shooting procedure? I currently do not have a timing light and really don't want to buy one if the timing cannot be adjusted anyway. Thanks.
The only time I ever saw it mentioned is when doing a valve adjustment, but there is no way to adjust timing, so I would say no
  2. Yes, ideally I would daisy chain off with a 2nd ptt switch mounted on the handlebars. I would also like to find a way to add a 3rd intercom line but that is a problem for a later date.

will your 2nd radio have external jack for ear phone & mike? If so siearia eletronics sells a 5pin din adapter /w a ptt button velcro to handle bars.I dont know if this the kind of set up you are looking for but it might work
  3. Hi all

I hope you can assist with a problem I am having with my 2005 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe.I noticed that the right rear ignition coil was not working. Bought a new coil and put that on and still not firing.(no spark to plug).

So done the usual tests and everything is fine. On the left rear coil the wires are red/black and orange.

The right rear coil is red/black and yellow. Where I was tired I put the orange wire from the left rear coil on to the right rear coil in error. But then I got a strong spark?.

I have checked and tested everything I can and now I am losing what little hair I have. As I said if I put the orange wire from the left rear coil on the right rear, it sparks, but obviously that cant be right.

The bike starts, OK it runs a bit ruff/low on power but it runs, all lights work, etc etc.

Bike has had new plugs, new HT caps.

check for continuity on wiring harness, unplug from ignitor and check.if wire is open replace wire,if not check ignitor. what are HT caps????
  4. it looks like I'm going to have to wait until the ball drops and see what happens. Spectrum is saying that they are going 100% digital but I thought most TV mfg's built in a decoder in the newer tv's. I have 3 tv's connected to the cable right now. One has a dvr, a second one has a decoder box that I just ordered (free - I think) and the third is direct hook up. I still get digital channels on the third one but it's a hunt and seek situation. I only watch a few channels on it anyway so that one is no big deal. I guess I'll find out at the end of the month.
Spectrum in Akron went digital in November of 17 with the change you will get the privilege of renting their new modem for your cable viewing. If not already bundling they will ask you to do so. If all you want to do is watch local tv get your self a good antenna, if you want more, cancel cable and keep the internet, with your roku, subcribe to net flix & hulu & amazon prime,

will probably be all you will ever want or need . icon7.png

  5. Hi All,

Its time to get this FM radio working and Im sure its from the cut wiring that used to go to the Trunk that is no longer attached to my 04' Venture.

Perhaps its just the ground strap that needs to be reconnected (i honestly havent touched anything yet to even try it)

I went cross eyed looking at the Wiring Diagram.. So here is a long shot, but can anyone Tag which wire does what? (I'm mainly looking to get the FM radio working again)

*3rd pic has the Ground strap wrapped in tape with another wire.

Radio is up in the cowl If Im not mistaken the only wire you will need is the antenna wire , I think every thing else is for cb and intercom system. also rear speaker wires
  6. Next step is to try and find a used caliper off a trike conversion, as was suggested over on the GL1800 forum, maybe be readily available from newer 1800 conversion, not sure if those fit your bike. Some one on the GL forum will know , I am sure.

I take it you saw my post on your other thread?

Yes ,I was offered a new caliper for $45.00 ,I might just jump on that and be done with it
  7. If his 1500 GL is like my 1800 the head of the bolt/screw sits in a counter bore no way to get to the side of the head.

tried breaking it loose with vise grips today no luck,I am going to pull the caliper tomorrow should be able to get a small pipe wrench on it hopefully break it loose that way

  8. That pin does not unscrew, it is not threaded, there is a hair pin type of keeper un the inboard side, just rotate the pin to where you can pull the keeper out.

You have probably spun it to where the keeper is locked against some thin. Try going back the other way just a little.

Thanks for responding, this pin does unscrew it is on a 2005 Honda gl1800, not a venture

  9. Here is a video I just made. I just cannot tell if this is a fuel delivery or ignition issue? It feels like the timing gets thrown off at a certain point in the throttle.

I notice in your video that you have removed your stock air filter boxes and replaced them with after market units. I might be way off here but try hooking your over flow lines and stock boxes back up. As Goose mentioned them lines need to draw vacuum to work properly.
