  1. Here are a few pic's of the new trailer. Have not taken her down the road yet, as I need to license it and install a hitch on the RSV(coming soon). Adjustments are, added 25" to the tonge, flipped the axle over and raised the fenders, added tie down anchors, and built a tonge stand.

Now, what ALL do I need for my RSV,too wire it properly to the flat 4-wire harness on the trailer. Is some type of wire converter all I need? After reading through a few posts, I'm a little confused (my life story).

Thanks to all that have built a trailer and passed great tips/knowledge on to us.

    Happy Easter!

    Byron

  2. If you seal up the vents no fumes can get in.:big-grin-emoticon:

In all seriousness though, many of us ride in groups and around cages with no ill effects. Why would a dog be any different? It's not like you plumb the thing to the exhaust pipes.

My lab mix is deathly afraid of motorcycles. Hook up her trailer though and she can't wait to get in. Ride 200 miles and let her out and if I don't slam the door quick she's right back in. Apparently she doesn't mind being tied up in a cage behind a motorcycle.

I'm with you here. When my RSV is outside idling, I don't smell anything and my dog sits right next to me

  3. OK, I think I got it. I will reverse the bolts in the leave springs(I removed the small one) so the alignment heads are facing up (when the trailer is up right). Then slide the axle in and attach the axle with the flat of the channel down (open side up), the reverse of the design.

This HF trailer has 12" wheels and it seems high, so that is reason for flipping my axle.

I also will be extending the tongue 22".

Anything else I may be forgetting?

  4. When you guys flip the axle over on the trailer to put it on top of the springs, do you still rest it on the flat part (open channel up) or the round shaft side( open channel side down as in manual on the spring? Weld plates on or just drill the shaft to align the spacing?

    thanks

  5. And if you ever get poison ivy on you, the absolute best remedy for the severe itching is hot water, as hot as you can stand. Once you submerge the rash, it will itch beyond belief but will quickly subside. Once the itching is totally gone, you are good for about 24 hours. I had it so bad one time, that I thought I would die and this was the only thing that worked.

This is exactly what I have done for years.

  6. If I wasn't going to replace the rubber with a bib would you still recommend doing it? I guess what I'm asking is does the rubber thing have a use and by having a bare tank I'll have problems? Does the sun fade the colour so that if I removed it there would be a strip of different colour paint? Thanks.

The color should not be any different under the vinyl. I believe the only purpose for the vinyl is to break up and/or add lines of character to that big tank.

  7. Looking to remove the strip of vinyl on my 06 venture gas tank. Is this a big job? looks like a lot of glue, but a heat gun should do it. I'm going to be putting on or replacing it with a Hopnel tank bib tux with pouch. I don't want it to sit to high off the tank. Also will the black plastic upper tank piece(around the ignition) fit tight enough without the stock vinyl.

    thanks:think:
