Well I finally found a dealer about 65 miles away that has a 09 model RSV that can be taken for a test ride. Believe he said it was a demo that they purchased from another dealership when it closed down. Hope to take it for a spin this week. It's a shame my local dealership dosen't want anything to do with the Ventures - but then again its probually for the best since I wouldn't trust them to work on a lawn mower. Maybe if all works out well there will be one sitting the garage this summer!

Saw this over on the HD site......have to say that it gets funnier each time I watch it.

........Harley you most take back to dealer at 1500 miles and around here that first change is costing guys $250..............
Don't have to take to dealer to get service. Just have to keep receipts and log also.

Just heard it on the news this morning. All I can say is What a Jerk... :bang head:
I know there is alot of BS on the news but what was heard???????????

Hang in there. Some good news may come about.

I have both the inch pounds and ft pounds wrenches from HF. Works good for messing around on my small engine stuff. If I was using them full time I would go for a better quality one tho.

Ordered the Carbtune and pouch today myself. $80.65 shipped. Not bad. Thanks for the heads up.

......Rumor has it that FB is going to start charging a monthly fee for an account. If that happens, then I will agree with the founder's comment and they can shut my account down when I won't pay it.
Same here. I check it out every now and then, but its not worth a monthly fee.

When I met my wife a few years ago she never rode on a motorcycle. After a nice cruise through the country she was hooked. Now she loves to ride any chance she gets.

Sounds like the guy has issues.

Nice...

I don't know about anybody else, but I don't think we need a new model just improve on this one. Lose the cassette, put on fuel injection, and a few other here and theres.............
+1 on this. Love the style, looks, and reliability. Just loose the cassette!

Interesting.......

I would like to see a FI model since I currently ride one now. Both carb and fi have there own pros and cons. I guess we will just have to wait and see!

We're not talking about an ear splitting shouting above the sound of your pipes loud.. but its louder than stock..
I think the nicest sound was pulling into a crowded parking lot and overhearing the HD guys mentioning the big black yamaha coming in with the sweet sounding pipes.. pipes sound nice as you roll in.. and doesn't crack an eardrum..
Cheers
Don't like the ear splitting noise myself...just a good deep sound that's unique to ones own bike. Couldn't get that sound with the stock mufflers. So quiet that I could pull up behind someone, blow the horn and scare them to death. Could have been the crossover pipe on mine...don't really know. Had to switch to aftermarket pipe with no crossover and a different baffle design. Now it's sweet!!!

Went to another dealer (50 miles away) just to check them out and ask questions. They had no RSV's on the floor, said they we leaving as fast as they uncrated them. Said they worked on everything including the Ventures (all brands of bikes). They would even wash them up when finished so they are clean for the customer. They definately rank alot higher than my local dealer thats 15 miles away. I will put this dealer on the list to check back with.

I can't see where you would get a louder sound out of these mufflers. Maybe a different or deeper tone. I took them off my RK bike and put aftermarkets on just to get a louder sound and different look. Although I could have messed with the baffles, I wanted a different looking style. Guess that's why they are hanging in the shop.

Tractor trailer blowouts are a real danger to motorcycles and cars alike. These tires carry more than 100psi. You don't want to be around when they blow. As others have posted earlier you should pass as quickly and safely as possible. Also, when they blow they can take other trailer or cab parts with them making the danger even higher. All I can say is be aware and scan the road ahead. Also be aware of flying debris coming out/off of the trailers. I have seen this happen many times and its just as scary for us, as I drive a tractor trailer and had many blowouts in the past.

I had some extra time on my hands so I went to my local Yamaha dealer to ask some questions. On previous visits I was unimpressed with their service department; but hey, I Just wanted to inquire and look at the RSV if they had one. They didn't have one on the showroom floor so I just looked around. Even though I know Yamaha is tight lipped on releasing any info on future models, I inquired about the 2010 RSV. I asked about the possibility of FI and colors. To my surprise the sales guy said they were already FI. I said no and he had to get the brochure to verifiy. I think I will check out the other dealers in my area. He did state that any new info would not be released until late September on the new models. I guess it's good to check around!!

Now that is interesting.

The Blue Ridge Parkway will be nice that time of year. If you need a place to camp I like the Otter Creek Campground at milepost 60.8. Has a nice place to eat on site also. http://www.virtualblueridge.com/maps/otter-creek-campground.asp This is a small but friendly place. The link shows the campground map and the links at the top can direct you to other items of interest along the Parkway. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks for the feedback.....I will go and check out a couple of dealers today. I am eager to see what they say about servicing the RSV.

Since I have a 09 Ultra I will have to say that doing your own service is a little more challanging. Not as simple as pulling one or two drain plugs, etc. That is why I have the local dealer I trust do mine. Have not had any breakdowns on any model I have owned (1990 Sportster, 1999 Sportster, 2001 Wide Glide, 2007 Road King, 2009 Ultra Classic). I have had some recalls but all were simple and fixed through the dealer. From reading the owners / service manuals on the RSV models I could do just about all the service myself. I like that! And I will give the water cooling a big plus!!
