Randy. It may be a leak under the cooling fins. (easy fix)
The 2Gen's have a little round seal under the cooling fins. Not a big deal. Ether tighten the allen screws that hold on the cooling fins, or take the fins off and place a little washer between the rubber seal and the boss on the fin. Reinstall the fin and it should stop the leak. Being a new bike, check and see if the allen fin screws are loose, try tighten them first.

Hello Hermann
Try the helmets on another bike.
Remove the mic-mute and see what happens. (my guess)

Jay, I went to Home Depot and purchase a piece of aluminum, after the third try I had something that work, right height, right angle and all that stuff, it was ease to fabricated I use the vise, a hammer, file and a hand drill. Filed and polished a bet and there you have it. I used rivets and washer and a small piece of aluminum to attach the GPS holder to the bracket.
Just remember that the right mirror has left hand threads.
P.S. We will be at Vogel for a better look.

Well I got the dropping done quick. I borrowed a friends trailer instead of taking my own because he said it would be easier to pull empty. Told me there had been RSV's on it before and loaded no problem. Yeah right! I bought the bike and then had to load it myself. First problem is the sides are so narrow that once the bike was on you could'nt lower the stand. So there I was trying to tie down the bike while also balancing it and ......boom. Laid it over on the side. Finally got it tied down, not many places on the bike to attach straps, and headed home. Half way home the drivers seat blew off on I-95. Had to jog a 1/2 mile back and get it out of the weeds. All in all a very interesting trip but at least I have the bike.
AL, sounds like a bet of bad luck. A enclose bike trailer is the only way to go, It's easy to load by your self.

Mark glad you found it, pull your plate back off and see if it stops blowing the fuse, if not you may have a wire cross.

Check all the fuses. Make sure a wire is not pinched. Sometimes it happens putting things back together. It happen to a friend after installing some rear lights. Loosen everything back up, check all fuses and see if things start working. Just take your time and retrace your steps I'm sure you will fine the problem.

They all do, go with a mp3 player or Sirius radio

You may have a drain on the battery, do a battery drain test. If that's OK, do a load test on the battery.

Hello Kreg.
My 02 have a few creaks also on the lower fairing . For now, I reinforce them by riveting a piece of aluminum on the back side until I can repair or replace them. (pic below)

I have noticed that many of you have the capability to turn off the passing lights. I don't seem to find a switch. 2000 Venture. Is this something that some of you added?
Passing lights.
Their are many ways to wire passing lights. Here is how I wired my 02 RSV.
From the battery I send a fused power suppy up under the front cowling.
For the passing lights and other accessories I installed a relay that is turn on and off by the ignition switch. From there I installed some switches on top of the master cylinder. (pic below) I used one of those switches to turn on and off the passing lamps.

Popping or Backfiring. AIS (Air Induction System)
This may not be the solution for some folks. There are many ways to do this. This is how I correct the popping or backfiring on my 2002 RSV. I purchase the RSV used with 6000 miles from a dealer. On the way home I heard this popping or backfiring noise. I return to the dealer and explain the problem to him. He kept the bike for 4 days. When I got it back it started popping again. Then I decided to look into this myself. After looking over there work I have to say I was surprise of the poor work men ship. They half way plugged the AIS system and said it was fixed. I then research and figured out how the AIS works. To make a long story short I found that fuel was leaking from the carburetor and running down the carburetor manifold into the vacuum port then down the vacuum hose to the back AIS air cutoff valve. This 1/4 inch vacuum hose controls the AIS air cutoff valve. What I found was that fuel (maybe from seating) run down to the AIS air cutoff valve and prevented it from working properly. My solution was to plug the four AIS cylinder ports. That's were it all starts. (See picture) By plugging the AIS tubes that would eliminate the AIS from that point on. Now all the AIS can be removed. (see other post on how to permanently plug and remove the AIS) I decided not to go this route because of the warranty. This is my fix. Follow the rear steel cylinder AIS tubes down (see picture) there will be a short 1/2 rubber hose at the end of each pipe. Remove the short rubber hose and place a marble or still ball bearing into the 1/2 rubber hose (lubricate if you wish). After installing the ball bearing or marble move it up until it touches the steel cylinder pipe were the rubber hose slips back onto the steel pipe. Replace clamps. Do this to both rear cylinder pipes. Next I placed a small steel ball bearing into the 1/4 inches vacuum hose from the carburetor manifold. (this is on the opposed side) (left side setting on seat) next to carburetor. Slide the 1/4 inch ball bearing next to the manifold port. Install the clamp (see picture) I did the something to the front AIS tubes. The fronts are arrange a little different. I did not fine any fuel in the front AIS air cutoff valve. The front requires pulling the bottom of the radiator away so I could get to the short 1/2 inch rubber hoses. I had to drain the radiator first. It seems to be only the rear causing the problem. A friend did only the rear. We spent about 15 minuets and it corrected the problem. (stop the popping) I sense help a few others this way. I hope this helps.

Do a battery Drain test, If it pass's the battery drain test it could be a starter resistance problem.
The AB Battery Drain Test.
Take a 12 volt test light. Make sure that the battery is fully charged. Make sure that everything on the bike is turn off. Make sure that the test light is working. Test the test light by putting one end on the + side of the battery and the other end on the - side of the battery. The light should be on. If not the test light is faulty.
Disconnect the + side of the battery terminal from the battery.
Connect one end of the test light to the + side of the battery.
Connect the other end of the test light to the bikes + battery terminal.
Now the test light should be connected in series. Between the + side of the battery and the + side of the bike battery terminal.
Now if everything is turn off on the bike there should be NO light in the test light.
If there is a light there is a drain on the battery. Something is draining the battery. Start pulling fuses until the light gos out. It's in that system.
To test this theory, if there is no light in the test light turn on something, like the ignition. The test light will glow, the brighter the light the more the drain the battery has on it. Keep turning on stuff the test light will get brighter.
Do this test to each positive terminal coming off the positive+ side of the battery.
This is one of the best and most simple test ever for checking a battery for drains. I picked this up working with GM engineers in school and have been using it for 30 years now.

There is only one place for a Vacation in August, "VOGEL" or "Tail of the Dragon lll " It's the best. Check it out in Rides and rallies.
There is a RSV rally in July out west Ft. Collins. Go to Rides and rallies.

I been using the Kuryakyn grips for about 3 three years now and I like them because there bigger, rougher and a bit longer grip. I also went with the larger wide chrome levers from J.C. Whitney. (not in the pics) I think I paid around $10.00 each for the levers, there nice. Check out the pic below.

Mike, I have been using Sirius for over a year now, before that I used Mp3's seems like for ever. I really like the Sirius radio. Here are some problems I had.
I use the Star mate ST2 because it runs off of 12 votes and I did not have to install a transformer to change the voltage.
I had to move the antenna from top of the bracket and place it inside the windshield center on top of the dash. (Thats over the speedometer) Before I moved the antenna It was losing the signal a lot. (a large improvement)
I end up mounting the Starmate ST2 forward of the gas cap. Their's no wires showing and also use the same unit in the house. Once again I had to install a antenna on top of the chimney for good reception.
I would post some pictures, but the bike is torn apart now, If you want me to I can post some in a few days.
Hope this helps.

Any changer that uses a bus cord should work. Good luck!! most of them skip, don't waste your time and money, go with a mp3 player, a much better system. Or Satellite Radio.

Something really got over looked here. After all the post Les (Pavement Inspector) still could not fine the ventureriders in photobucket (were all the venturerider pictures are) I sent him a pm with the venturerider user name and the pass word (that we all use) he pm me be back and said that it worked A-OK. What I'm trying to say is may be we need a better way to get the word out.
Passing Lamps Adjustments
in Watering Hole
Posted
Heres my method and it may not be suited for everyone.
I tighten them down to a point were they will stay put, but allows me to move them by hand. I then adjust the lights by hand just by looking at them. That gets them into the right area. I reassemble them and just at twilight I place the bike around 80 feet back in front of the garage door, door down. Now do the alignment on the garage door. Hold the bike upright. Just like you were riding. Pick a place on the garage were they should be. What you see is what you get. Move the lights by hand until they are at your liking. Once their proper alignment I them remove the bulb and torque everything down.
