  1. Assuming that you are running XP, go to control panel, go on Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options, click the item 2nd down in the list which says change the format of numbers...., click the time tab, go to time format and set it as h:mm:ss tt, the big H is 24 hr the small h is 12 click ok, and ok again. thats should do it for u.

The method is slightly different in XP Home Edition. In Control Panel, go straight to Regional and Language Options Then click Customize next to the displayed language. Select the time tab and alter the format as above, i.e. HH for 24 hour, hh for 12 hour.

    So simple... :rotf::rotf::rotf:

  2. Wasn't funny at the time, but when the first EMS arrived, after they checked him. Seems he was lying in the next county, so had to wait for another EMS to arrive. Don't know who said it, I think Dave, to drag him back to the other county.

And to top it off some gas was starting to leak from the main tank gas cap on to the ground next to him. But he was soon on his feet, and I had plenty of help to get the bike uprighted. After a short wait, she started right up. Blew a little smoke, but was able to ride it real slow to get it a safer place a few yards away.

    Wrong Zipcode? :rotf:

    Sorry...

  3. Its environment not heredity! See, no matter where you come from, you can step up to your potential!

Well folks, you try your best to raise your children right but what do you do when they finally do something that is a complete embarrassment to you.

From the time they are born. You try to set a good example. Yea, we often fall short but we do our best and hope that they learn the important things that they need to know to get through this life.

Now those of you who have sons can surely relate. Things are much different today than they were when I was a kid. Back then, those of us with a bit of a wild streak would drive our fathers crazy by sneaking out and riding our motorcycles all night, getting in fights in the smoking area at school, having a good pocket knife taken away by a teacher. Heck...I've even had the local police call my dad to tell him that they caught, but let me go, for having a couple of cold ones in my car. All things things and a lot more that I know caused some premature gray hair for my dad.

In spite of doing my best though, I still always had that little bit of fear nagging deep inside. It got worse when Dylan started driving. Though I know that he is basically a very good kid and has never caused me any real trouble, I also know that we as parents certainly don't know everything. You worry that he will end up having a few beers with friends and the police will call late one night....luckily that never happened. You worry that you find out that they were busted drag racing on some deserted road. That never happened. The biggest fear of all is that they come home one day and tell you that they have gotten a girl in trouble. Always a big fear...hasn't happened.

So just when I thought that we had made it past most of these things....tonight Dylan calls me with news that I never thought I would have to hear. Though he had alluded to it in passing a couple of times...I had simply told him to NOT become an embarrassment to me and I thought he had listened. I guess not.......................so.........

I may as well say it...my son is....well....he has admitted to being an APPLE fan and as of today was notified that he has been hired by APPLE. Now he is in college and it is a part time job at a local Apple retail store but still....APPLE.

I guess I should blame myself. We should have never moved to Ohio. I could have stayed in Texas...maybe moved to the Austin area so that he could be near Dell. I still tried though....he has been raised on Dell computers. I just assumed that he would grow up to be a PC man. But APPLE???????

To add insult to injury....he threw it in my face that he would be able to get me a discount on a new Apple computer. :bang head:

Oh why couldn't he have just gotten a girl in trouble. :confused24:

  4. SOOOOOO, I got an HD trunk on my 83, So I got a:smile5: YAMAdavadison.:stirthepot:

You are tempting fate... a 1st gen... HD trunk... it should start marking it's spot any day now with oil leaks. I'm just sayin'....

  5. I totally understand the visibility concept - what grates me is the ones that use them as a tool to intimadate cagers.

I've said it before and don't mind saying it again, I think they should be outlawed in all 50 states. Or better yet make everybody that has them ride for 10 minutes with another one behind with that da%$ thing blinking in their rear view mirror.

If someone is so afraid to ride depending on standard safety practices, then don't ride.

    ( flame suit on ) :smile5:

Just like loud pipes... they should all be outlawed... I call BS. I will run modulators, loud pipes, wear hi-viz gear or any thing else that will help my chances of not getting killed by some unobservant jerk with phone in hand. If it happens to annoy some one, tuff. And the line about being afraid and standard safety practices is also BS. You don't take one single extra precautionary step in anything you do? You don't carry an extra key, extra reload, first aid kit, fix-a-flat, etc. I don't believe that for an instant. They are all the same as far as your frame of mind, be prepared.

You and I think a lot alike most of the time, but this time we are in different worlds. No offense intended. Just a difference of opinion.

    :duck:

  6. Thanks....with that my kid and I went back out and jacked it back up a bit. Had dropped it off the jack to 'force' the forks up. Just lifted it not quite to the point the front tire was in the air and it dropped into place.

All is well!! Can't wait to go for a ride...I'm short, hoping this helps, and have the rear lowering kit on order.

Yep... gotta get the weight off the front tire... you found out before I could reply. Good job!
