  1. I have the regular Deer whistles on my bike and truck. Maybe it's just coincidence or maybe they do work, but every Deer I've driven near has run in the other direction or just stood still. The other day the deer was running along side of my truck then veered away into the forest.

  2. I did my pipes. Basically, there is a cone shaped piece of sheet metal around the pipe between the baffle and outer chrome. drill a couple holes in a line from the end of the pipe to the center at the exhaust hole. then be careful to pull the cone metal away from the chrome and remove it completely. Then you can drill several holes spaced neatly around the baffle. The exhaust will rumble louder with more or bigger holes. Good luck and take it slow.

  3. I have a 2007 Venture & just installed a centerstand. All was well until I scraped the centerstand on a driveway curb. I noticed that the stand was hitting the Emissions Valve, so it wasn't up all the way. I tried to relocate the E valve per the Rivco directions. No luck, the directions seem easy enough, pull the bracket off and mount it backwards. It didn't move the E Valve far enough to allow the centerstand to not contact it. I was thinking of drilling new mounting holes higher up on the frame. Any ideas?

  4. Dingy,

I received the stand the other day. I had time to install it yesterday, it went on easy.

I tried to lift the bike, but it wouldn't go all the way. I think the front brackets are squeezing the stand. The stand doesn't move freely without the spring.

Is it possible that the front brackets should be mounted to the inside of the stand bracket instead of the way it came to me. Did you have the stand mounted in this configuration?

  5. I used some JB Weld over some small cracks in my fairing tabs. I think the best thing Star could do is upgrade the windshield/fairing mounts. Why not make them separate? Seems like too much stress and not enough support to mount them together and the tabs on the fairing should be beefier!!

  6. NOt very happy this afternoon. Today started out with me going to have my new Dunlop E3 rear installed on the Venture. Arrived at Cycle Nation about 9:45am. They quickly took my bike in to the service bay. I spoke to parts about a price match from Motorcycle Superstore and got $30 refunded. That's when the "Happy" feeling went south. Turns out that their warehouse sent the wrong size tire. That wouldn't be too bad, but service already removed my rear tire from the rim. So they gave me a ride home and I wait till the correct tire comes in to be installed. Hopefully by Wed. It's always something...

  7. D404... oem 150/90 HB-15 , D404... aftermarket 150/90 H-15 . The aftermarket D404 is not a belted tire, that's what the B stands for. 150/90 HB-15 can only be bought thru Yamaha. Dunlop lists the aftermarket D404 as high value/bias, sounds better than cheap. Look at your rear tire, for a B, if you want to run D404's buy the one with a B for belted for the rear, but there are better choices for our bikes,Metzeler,Avon, E3.

This explains why I got 17k on my stock D404's that came on the bike new. Now my 2nd 404 on the rear is starting to show a flat spot at only 10k.

I had an E3 on the rear for 400 miles, but picked up a 2" screw in Roanoke and the dealer didn't have a replacement, so I had a D404 put on thinking I would get the same miles as the 1st set.

I plan to replace the rear with an E3 to match the front, which still looks new.
