Went out today without switching anything on relay. Pushed horn switch horn would not stop blowing. turned bike off it continued blowing. unplugged grnd on horn, it stopped then. Rewired, switched 85 & 86. It then turned on all lights with ign switch off. Reversed 85 & 86, then blew fuses. I did notice that 87 lug was pushed into relay. Bought new relay, haven't replaced yet. As far as being from China, it is a Wolo relay made to their specs but mfg in china. Directions are simple, checked and double checked my wiring. Ridiculous. lol

Wired horn as per inst., used 14ga. wire and relay. Hooked to pos & neg posts of batt. Pressed orig horn switch, loud as all get out. When I released button, it continued blowing for few seconds. In instr said it didn't matter if original wires where hooked to 85 or 86 on relay. Any suggestions.

I am a firm believer in Metzeler. I got 29000 on my last set. But then again it all depends on your riding style and maintaining proper air pressure in my opinion. I am currently running a set of Michelan that I got for a song from a friend. Like the feel, so far. Looking forward to seeing how long they last.

Also, still have safe tread on tires for a few more 1000.
-
I put a set of Metezler 880's on my 05 RSTD at 10,300 and now have right at 33,000 on bike. Ride 2 up periodically. I wouldn't change a thing, getting that kind of mileage out of tires. Paid 425 turn key.

I put a set of Metzlers on mine, after going through 2 sets of Bridgestones (low milage tires).
I have over 21,000 mis. and looking to get a few more 1000 out of them. Little more pricey, but well worth it. As well as being a great handling tire (In my opinion).
But just like butt holes, we all have one, as well as opinions!

Thanks for the response guys. Quiet frankly, sounds as though its 6 of 1 half a dozen of another.

Just went to the site. Don't really think it is very accurate. Got 2 regular stations that I know of in Panama City area, which aren't marked on map.

What have y'all found to be the best coolant to use for 2nd Gen? Was told, any that doesn't have silicates and phosphates. Is that correct?

I have the same jack and I bought it from Sams also. If you would like I can (or I will try and email you a copy of the owners manual, not the most computer literate person around) send you a copy. Give me a shout.

took mine to the shop awhile back. At first the sensor was bad, then they decided the actuator was also bad, which casused the sensor to crater. Glad it was still under warranty, wouldn't have been cheap, if it had had to come out of my pocket, I'd live with it for a pretty good while. Was told, parts and labor $756.00. Works very well, and is a pleasure to have back.

Hey Little Bob,
I ride an 05 RSTD and I put a Quadzilla sound system from Hoppe Industries on mine a couple years ago. Very pleased, and have gotten alot of compliments on the look. Check out my pics and you can see what it looks like. At least I think their there. If you'd like more info, give me a shout.:rudolf:Dickie (Truckin48)

If the bike isn't ridden for a couple of days one of the valves makes alot of noise, it will clear up after being ridden for awhile, I was told at the KAW shop that this was normal because since they are hydraulic, it leaks down. Would someone please tell me if he is correct. My warranty expires in Mar. and would like to have the problem taken care of, my pockets aren't that deep.
Thanks and ride safe

I used 2" polished aluminum angle to mount deflectors just slightly above and behind fairing. I think you can see how it looks in my pictures profile. Looks good and very functional. Only problem, if I crank it up to 95 to 100 Mph (once in a blue moon), I get front end wobble since I put fairing on. 85 to 90 no problem.

Got tired of screwing around with it. Took it to the shop (which I should have done in the first place, since it is under warranty). Come to find out my problem was that the pump was bad and of course they had to order one. Went by the shop to get some of my stuff out, the mech showed me the old pump and what it wasn't doing. By the way, had a Cops for Kids toy run Sunday and used a friends Buell Thunderbolt, which was different, but a heck of alot of fun to ride. Could get into some serious trouble with it!

what is this "rev" light you refer to, supposed to tell ya. My 05 RSTD doesn't have anything like that on my display, nor does it say anything about it in manual. Enlighten me please.

I appreciate ur responses, have already tried a few to no avail, as much as I hate to have a shop work on anything I own, I just might break down and let the local shop take a gander and see what they will try and charge me for, or what they screw up when I get it back. Im really not always so pessimistic!
Thanks,

I can activate cruise and on light stays on, push set switch and set lights stays on, as they both should. Let go of throttle and cruise is actually not on. Tried at different speeds from 45 up to 65 to no avail.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

My '83 did the same thing. I cleaned both pieces and used JB weld on each piece and covered the outside below the break and just finger tightened the resevior bolt. Never had a problem the last 3 years I owned it.

Great job George, just a couple of ?'s. Did u have to rejet or make any other adjustments? Looks like something I would like to undertake on my 83.
Once again, very informative and wonderful blow by blow illustration.
thanks

If any of you had the unfortunate or helpless feeling as I have had when you try and take the saddlebag or trunk of the brackets and all the key and lock does is turn turn turn, really sucks!!
Well, what I did was take the locking mechanism off the bag (in my case bags), unscrew plate on back remove circular tumbler (making sure not to lose the spring that holds pressure on latch), replace plate and install lock back on to bag. Now, to remove bag from bracket just take screwdriver or knife blade and push against front side of latch. Holding latch with blade push bag backwards. Not the best way to fix the problem but it works for me!!!
wolo horn sounds like dying cow
