  1. I just purchased a CB antenna for my RSV as it was missing when I bought it. I looked up the part number and ordered it from Bike Bandit. It arrived yesterday and I installed it. I noticed that it is virtually identical to the radio antenna on the left side of the bike. In addition I cannot seem to pull up the embossed metal cylinder portion at the bottom to allow it to collapse. I happened to notice a RSV for sale in the classified section of venture rider and noticed that his cb antenna is a whip antenna and does not have the black coil in the middle of the antenna. I looked up the yamaha part number again to confirm that it was indeed a cb antenna. Does anyone know if the cb antenna is supposed to have the black coil structure in the middle of the antenna and if it can be folded over? Thank you,
  2. I own a 2002 Kawasaki Voyager 1200 and recently purchased an 08 RSV. On my Voyager I had someone install a Bluetooth unit in place of the oem cassette player. so now I can access music through the I phone and play it through the stock audio system, and change selections using the stock handlebar controls. Does anyone know if this is possible in the RSV? I can hook up the iPhone to the aux input on the Venture, but can’t make selections. I have read about the isimple gateway product but don't know if this works with an iPhone. Does anyone have experience with this? Does J&M make a comparable product? many thanks for the help.
  3. I suspect that the cruise control issue might be related to the issue I have with the bike bogging in 5th gear. Even above 60 mph in 5th the bike just doesnt want to smoothly accelerate. It will do so but not very easily. I put a whold can of sea foam in yesterday and ran it 50 miles. The bike performs better but still is far from normal. I have had some in the forum suggest pulling the carbs and doing a thorough cleaning. Perhaps if i give the seafoam more time it will eventually resolve itself. Thank you for all your help. Bruce
  4. Much thanks to all those who have helped me with issues on my 08 RSV I purchased last week. My last issue deals with my cruise control. When I turn the unit on and hit the set button the green light will come on but when i let go of the throttle the speed will drop around 5 mph and slowly climb back to the set point. Sometimes it will continue to hold speed but many times the unit will automatically disengage by itself. If I his the resume sometimes the yellow light will flash and then the green light will come on. I would say that about 80% of the time it will fail to engage or will disengage after working for a short time. This seems like it could be a difficult issue to track, but would greatly appreciate help.
  5. Thank you, this one looks like the one to get

  8. I just purchased a 2008 RSV with 17K miles on it. I know I am the 4th owner and the last owner only had it for six months and drove it very little. I notice that during acceleration the bike stalls during midrange. Low and top end is pretty good but if I open the throttle all the way in 3rd or 4th it's like the key is turned off for a second. I put in new plugs today correctly gapped and put in fresh gas but see no improvement. If feels like a fuel and or carberator issue. Thinking about trying a fuel additive to see if the jets are partially obstructed. I suspect that previous owners were not good at Winterzing. Thanks for helping. . Item Number: 342041
  9. My 2008 RSV came with a aftermarket driving (passing lights.) does anyone happen to know if there is a LED replacement that will fit in the same enclosure. thank you

  11. Could someone tell me where to get a comfortable folding backrest for a RSV. I just purchased an 08, it came with a backrest but it is quite small and not very comfortable.
  12. Thanks again for the Help. I did read that in the manual and am pretty sure I have gone further than 500 feet with it not canceling. I will check again. Thanks for the info on the horns.
  13. I just purchased a 2008 RSV, I notice that the turn signals don't auto cancel every time I use them. Also does the bike have 2 horns? There appears to be a second horn on the lower right side of the bike. If this is also a horn, it appears to be inoperative. Thanks for the help.
