Thanks everyone for the information.
From what I can figure out (and please correct me if I'm wrong) it looks like the three crush washers are the same, not two for the crankcase and a different one for the oil tank. The part number is 214-11198-01-00. I've attached a couple of pics showing both sides of the washer.

Hello all!
When changing the oil on the SVTC I see that there is one oil tank drain bolt and two crankcase drain bolts. Each of the three drain bolts have a crush washer that goes with them. I'm one of those guys that actually replace the crush washers. Does anyone know the part numbers of those crush washers? I've been looking all over and just can't seem to find them. The scary thing is my dealer couldn't find them either! I'm a little worried about that needless to say...
Thanks for any information on this!

I just did the update and everything went just fine. Took about 20 minutes. I was at R11.something and it now shows R12.0.6.
I looked for a change log to see what was updated over the different versions but couldn’t find anything like that. This latest update mentioned something about IOS compatibility but no details. It would be nice to know what exactly they addressed!

I bought mine 3/2018. It has a build date of 11/17 and a sequence number of 1111.
-
Thanks for the info! Looks like my sequence number is 1111.

I was just wondering if anyone knew how many of these bikes were produced (2018 production run)? From what I understand the last digits of the VIN number is a sequence number so I’m curious as to where mine fits in. Also, is there a different sequence run for the Trans Continental version and the non Trans Continental version?
Thanks for any info...

Thank's Doug...will do! Certainly will!

I forgot to mention another thing. After you wash down the bike but before you put the sealant on I always like to do what's called an IPA Wipedown (though it's certainly not required.) IPA is Isopropyl Alcohol and you can get it in different strengths from your grocery or drug store. The strength really doesn't matter so much but you want to dilute it 50/50 with water (distilled if you got it.) Put the mixture in a spray bottle then mist down a small section on the bike and wipe it off with a soft microfiber cloth (you can always spray the cloth and then wipe the panel also.) Repeat until you've done all of the painted surfaces. This removes any oils, residue, and previous waxes and sealants so your new sealant has a super clean surface to bond to and it will last longer.

As soon as I get her washed...I can't even get their Yamaha Toolbox to detect my USB drive with the bike's downloaded FingerPrint. What a PITA!
So...the rep said hang tight...others are having the same problem. So..no updated Infotainment System software. No ability to install and activate my Map Navigation. I have installed one of the first 11.xxx.xxx versions, and can't find 12.0.5 I hope my dealer can access it. I'll bring my USB drive to him...so I can get a copy to take back to the bike. Then...what I think is the worst paint job to be delivered to me, in the last 50 years...wow...and on their most expensive bike to boot. If this is the 'famous' Yamaha quality that some have forum'ed about...then I am worried....
I'm going to try and wash and apply a first coat of Mother's and then a sealer...and see where I am after that.
Great bike, mechanically....visual paint job, (at least on mine) sucks.
You should probably put on the sealer first and then the wax. Sealer lasts longer than wax. Let the wax protect the sealer (which is protecting the clear coat which is protecting the paint) and be the sacrificial layer which you can reapply every few weeks or so...

LOLOLOLOLOL! I needed that...having trouble with getting software downloads to her. Don't have Navigation as the Yamaha Toolbox software doesn't detect my USB drive...I have an older version or the Infotainment System...but I can't download the latest 12.0.5 What a PITA!
I have paint swirl crop circles from too coarse a sanding grit from their factory paint shop...that I hope can get masked by my first coat of wax and sealer. My dealer knows about that...but you'd think that the most expensive bike they produce, would have better quality control on such things as paint and finish.
Great bike riding...mechancially, but at least on my bike...a very poor paint quality issue. Frankly, I'm shocked. Yamaha The Great...apparently they aren't...or at least, any more.
I'll work it out, one way or another...it only shows up in intense direct sunlight...but again that is before perhaps wax and sealer will 'fill' the whatever's...and they then become invisible even in direct sunlight.
I had a heck of a time getting the Yamaha Toolbox software to recognize my USB drive also. It took me at least a half a dozen times of formatting, getting the thumbprint from the bike, try the software, formatting, getting the thumbprint from the bike, try the software, formatting, etc. before it finally worked. Very frustrating...

On my Goldwing I installed a "Windbender" shield. It's actually a two piece setup and to me was the best thing I ever did to that bike. If they made one for the SVTC I'd get it in a heartbeat...

Looks good. I’ve had Utopia backrests on a couple of other bikes and was very pleased with them. It doesn’t look like it will work with the Yamaha 8” backrest so if I get one of these i’ll need to go back to the stock backrest I guess...

As far as I know, the toolbox is only for GPS maps updates. For the entire infotainment system, you have to go here:
https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/transcontinental-touring/pages/infotainment-software-update
But, as you can see at the top (as of this posting), it says, "Sofware Updates are Temporarily Unavailable for Download." So the download WILL be customer downloadable, when it comes out. And that will be, if the guy who spoke to my dealer today is to be believed, in a couple of weeks or so... ish...
Thank you for the link!

Interesting about the software version. I just went out and checked mine and I'm at R11.9.08.01. When I go into Yamaha Toolbox it says that there are no updates. Is this something that the dealer needs to do???

I just bought a 2018 Star Venture Transcontinental, I also own a J&S Jack that I have used with my Victory Cross Country Tour when I had that bike then I used it with my Harley Davidson Ultra Limited Low and now I have the Star Venture.
Like you I found that the rear tire does not want to come off the ground and you are just raising the front tire, like you I also repositioned the jack as far back on the steel tube frame as I could and tried again, this time while still tail heavy the rear tire did come off the floor and like you the bike was stable side to side but was not as stable front to rear as you could rock the bike.
While we own different manufactures jacks I did email J&S and asked them if they were going to make an adaptor for their jack like they have for other bikes. I am thinking what is needed is the rear lift bar needs to contact the rear of the frame before the front lift bar on the jack, these bikes may need to be tied down to the jacks regardless because of the tail heavy bias of them.
When I hear back from J&S I will post what they have to say.
I look forward to hearing what they have to say!

About a week after I picked up the bike I noticed that I didn't have the helmet stay cables, which they got for me within a couple of days. I didn't think about a toolkit until a couple of days ago... lol
-
Looks like I need to stop by my dealer and ask them about my toolkit!
Thanks everyone!
-
For those of you that have a SVTC, did it come with a toolkit? I know those kits are not all that great but I just realized that there wasn’t one on my bike when I took delivery of it.
Just curious!

I also got another smart key so I could have a spare and yes, you yourself can register it with the bike (up to six of them total) so you don't need to pay the dealer to do it. The instructions are in the service manual and start on page 7-154. Needless to say the instructions are a little vague in a couple of spots (or maybe it's just me) so I wanted to relate my experience.
Copy the six digit smart key identification number of the ORIGINAL smart key and have it at the ready. Then turn the original smart key off and take it in the house out of range of the bike. The instructions say that you can just turn it off but when I did that (and had it in my pocket) I kept getting an error that said I was trying to register an existing smart key. As soon as I moved the original smart key out of range of the bike I got past that error.
Step #3 says to perform steps (1) to (6) in "Smart Key System Emergency Mode" on page 7-153. It's actually steps (1) thru (7) and the smart key identification number that you need to enter is that of the original smart key, not the new one you are trying to register.
everything else went pretty much according to the instructions.
I hope this helps...

I have a bike lift 1500lbs that I got from Harbor Freight.
What I noticed is that you have to place the rear part of the lift literally right where the frame tubing bends at the rear.
Lift SLOWLY & have a FULL TANK of gas. It’s puts more weight forward. Even after I get it up, install a security strap up from from the front cross brace under the bike to the lift to help secure it. Hope that helps.
Interesting, I’ll have to look into trying it like this. I didn’t have much luck with shims.
Thanks for the insight!

The slats on my lift are not adjustable. I aligned the rear slat right under the frame weld (see picture.) In this position the bike was stable side to side but it teetered front to back. Pushing down on the front of the bike with maybe five pounds of pressure would tip the front down and onto the front slat of the lift and then the rear of the bike would come up. This is what I did to raise the rear wheel off the ground about an inch so I could spin it to clean it...

I have a Pitbull motorcycle lift and today I tried to lift the SVTC for the first time. It slid under there just fine but even with the lift moved to the back as far as possible the front wanted to come up first. Does anyone know of a trick to lift this thing or maybe some sort of adapter that is available that would let me move the lifting point further back?
Thanks for any ideas on this!

I have a lift from a company called Pitbull that I got for working on the Goldwing. Hopefully it will work on the SVTC...
Cheers!

I read somewhere that they are working on a big firmware update for this infotainment system to address a number of issues. We'll just have to wait and see what they "update."
Here's what I would like to see: When you have the intercom enabled the mics are on so you can just talk without hitting any switches. The passenger button would be changed to be a real PTT, i.e. it can not lock the mics on. The PTT switches would be used for talking on the CB, i.e. when you push a PTT the CB would override the intercom. If you wanted to disable the mics (if there was a lot of wind noice coming through the head phones if the intercom was enabled) then make it so a quick press of the rider PTT switch would disable the mics. Another quick press would reenable the mics. A long press (if you wanted to talk on the CB) would also reenable the mics.
Just a thought...
I hope you get your bike soon. It is really an amazing machine!!!
Needing crush washer part numbers.

I’ve always listened to the voices in my head more than the ones on my shoulders and they’ve always said to replace the washers so that’s what I do!
Again, thanks everyone for the opinions and information!!!
