  1. +1 for the hand warmer packets inside your gloves... does a good job while saving up to buy heated gloves.

Now that I have heated gloves, they have become one of my favorite & most useful accessories. My buddy with a heated seat on his goldwing says he rarely uses it. His heated gloves & grips keep his fingers toasty and he says he doesn't feel cold anymore so he doesn't even turn on his OEM heated seat.

  2. .... How are you avoiding the buckling issue?

I do not have the chrome ignition cover, only the stock black. The risers do hit at full left/right, but only enough to put a small blemish at the point of contact. I guess the chrome is subject to cracking, but the stock black plastic ignition cover works fine with the risers as long as you don't mind the minor cosmetic imperfection.

  3. I'll give a BIG thumbs up to the Phase Change Material vests for keeping cool in the saddle. I have the hi-vis reflective model from www.coolvest.com (sells for $199, non-reflective available for $179). I picked it up at Wing-Ding a couple of years ago and use it all the time when riding in temps 90 and above. It kept me comfortable in 100+ temperatures out in Indiana over the July 4th week. I also use it when I'm running Motorcycle Safety Foundation class range days out on the hot parking lot for 5 hours (recharging in a cooler of ice & water during the breaks). I could go on about this product, but I'll spare you.

Also, note that I have no connection with this company other than being a satisfied customer.

  4. I have a very simlar set that I bought in 2003 from JC Whitney. They have clearance light and turn signal. They do not have the "in mirror turn signal". They have been flawless for all these years.

Any chance you can post a few close-up pics of how you ran the wires? I'd like to add LED mirrors, but don't want the wires to stand out. It would be helpful to see how you ran yours.

  5. Over the years here we have all clicked on various webistes to place our online votes for a member of our group... now it's my turn to ask:

My nephew is in the running to win an autographed jersey from a Philadelphia Union soccer player. On the Philadelphia Union's Facebook page, he needs as many people to "Like" his comment as possible. If you are on Facebook and have a minute to spare, please help him win the jersey. Here's the 'how to' from his father:

    • First, go to this link and "like" the Union.
    • Next, go to this link and scroll down the comments, find the comment by Bill Malone, and "like" that comment. My son thanks you!!!

Thanks to all for your help!

  6. .... I've never heard the floorboards or highway bars or any pegs scrape on a turn...

Scraped the heck out of the floorbaords on the Dragon this summer. Also got my Kuryakyn highway pegs hitting the ground.... that was a little too low for my liking. The floorboards on these bikes do have replaceable scratch plates, so it must not be that uncommon.

  7. My fellow RiderCoaches started off making fun of me for breaking out the CoolVest in the parking lot last weekend... until the heat index hit 105. Look who's laughing now while they were

    :225:

  8. I have not tried the StayCool vest, but I do have a similar product from www.coolvest.com

It uses ice packs that "freeze" at 59°. The packs fully recharge in a cooler of ice/water in only 20 minutes. Additionally, the CoolVest ice packs are completely non-toxic, should they ever leak. Packs have a lifetime guarantee and the vests are made in the USA (Florida, to be exact). It also comes in high-vis green with ANSI reflective stripes, for a few extra $s.

From 95°+ rides to 100° temperatures on an asphalt parking lot teaching the MSF basic rider course, the vest has done a great job. The cooling lasts about 2.5 hours in the full summer sun.

I have no connection to the company... they just make a great product that I highly recommend without reservation.
