  1. Saw an article on this a few months back on cnn.com...see here: http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/science/04/01/algae.oil/index.html

He is hoping to be able to produce 100k gal of fuel on a single acre....THIS is the bio fuel we need to be focused on...The funny part (not so funny, depending upon your point of view) is that he has only received $5 mil in investments....makes you wonder what he could do with some real investment. If the govt wants to blow money (and we know they do)...this is the guy to blow it on...

The sad part is, the govt researched algae as fuel for years. It was started under the Carter Administration in '78 and ended by the Clinton administration in '96. Makes you wonder why the general public knew nothing of it.....hmmmm

It wouldn't be because the oil companies have there hand in our Governments pocket, Would it?

  2. Yup as soon as the Big oil Companies can, they will road block this to the end. I do hope this will get off the ground, and like it was said before this might cut our dependance on forien oil.

:lightbulb: Hmmm if that day were to come, then those Arabs wouldn't have anything to sell. Hmm but would still need some of what we produce, like food. I know the Good old U.S.A. wouldn't think of turning the tables and charging $120.00 for a Gallon of milk.

    :soapbox:

Sorry for the rant. I lost my mind

  3. Well, JT. Last bill that I got I got a $10.00 charge for a download on my son's phone line. He swears he never downloaded anything and had never heard of the outfit that the DL was through. So, if that's true, I guess so, yes.

I paid that $10.00 charge forever. I dont know how long it was being paid. I found it when i took the house phone off and only had the cell phone with the big "V" I took a few times and Verision was helpful but i dont know how it got on there.

  4. Yeah, I know. I get comments like turn up the radio. If it weren't for my bub's exhaust, it'd be driving me crazy!! Let me know what they try and if it works.

I believe with mine they had to wind up changing the final drive shaft. It is gone for now but it has developed the wheel of fortune clicking in the rear wheel.

  5. I know i'm not the smartest person in the country, But didn't we just give A 2nd country back to it's people (Iraq the first being Kuwait). If i remember correctly, both of these countries have more then ample supplies of what we are paying way too much for. These 2 countries in my opinion should give and I mean GIVE ,not sell us the oil for payment. Where was I when it was decided that the USA was the welfare man to all oil rich counties, only to have them Rape us for Payment of their ( I should say our) Oil. But Nooooooo we continuie to give AID (?) Money ,food, TROOPs. Some body tell me, What are we getting in return?:soapbox::soapbox::soapbox::soapbox:

  6. Okay in the mkt for a bike wanting a cruiser or would rather had a tour. I am not married to the idea of either but leaning toward tour. I am wishing to stay under 8k but seeking the best deal for the best bike. Age does not bother me does need to be 1100 or better. Best bang for the buck is the idea. Older and looks good well treated at fair price is as good to me as nearly new with fair price.

I am in Mississippi and have until 19th of June before I have to be back in Southern Ohio.. have motorcycle trailer will travel if worth the bike.

I have a 2004 Honda Sabre 1100cc lots of extras shield, bags, mustangs seat. flamed forward controls......ect I'm asking $5000.00. If you think you might be interested send me a email and i'll send some pics.

  7. one thing i do notice about the stock set up is that, it sure does ride smooth a high speeds. My bud's have comented on the speed tha I ride sometimes. I dont even realize i'm riding as fast as i do most times. I just installed the leveling link which IMHO gave the bike a whole new feel. Mostly at slower speeds. I haven't motice any change at high speeds. I guess i might agree that Maybe yamaha could set it up with what the leveling link sets the rake and trail at. Just my :2cents:.

  8. Buddy Rich,

    Thanks for the URL.

I have rotated my handle bars thru many postions but would like them higher, and more level, so the extensions might just do the trick.

I will shake the piggy bank and see if enough $ fall out...

BTW I am 6'6" tall and weigh 280 LBS... so most bikes dont fit me, but the 2nd Gen RSV is the closets fit I could find.

Hey kite did you get the Baron ext yet? If so , what do you think?

  9. Just wondering what everyone uses, if anything when you're going on a trip. Do you use the economy liners made by Glad or Hefty, whatever you might have available (gym bags, duffles, etc) that fits in the saddle bags or have you gone out and purchased the Yamaha liners that are suppose to go in there? Just kind of wondering what everyones thought were on the subject. What you've tried, what works, what doesn't.

I bought and use the bags from JC Whitney both the saddle bag linner and the trunk bag. Both work good and are worth the money. they are about 1/2 the price of Yama's.

  10. I bought the Diamond R leveling links and they came in over the weekend. me and my Buddy put them on last night. Yes they make a big difference at slow speeds and cornering. i have 1 comment and 1 question. 1st comment, We didnt need to lift the bike. what we did was use a floor jack and put it under the bottom of the shock mount (i think that what its called). to relieve the pressure of off the shock. Then unbolted and removed and replaced the links. It took 45 minutes to do and 20-30 was figuring if we indeed had to lift the bike. All worked out good though. 2nd the question, the instructions said something to the effect of links bolt torque at 36 ft lbs but their it also talks about the top of the shock bolt. can sombody clear this up? Do both of the link bolt torque to the same 36 lbs? Thanks and to anyone wonder why the bike wobbles at slow speed either make the link or buy them from Diamond R ( i say to buy them cause then you have more riding time and they do make a quality product)

Thank Freebird for the info in the tech library.

Man those are it. I will be buyinh them just for the look, i like the way they sound also. how long have you been playing?

  12. Pipes went straight out of the box onto the scoot . From what I have heard , the 4-2-4's comes very slightly wrapped . I did not remove the baffles to inspect .

At an idle , you can hear the RSV's water pump over the exhaust . Prior to placing the 4-2-4's on , I listened to the radio/CB at 15-18 out the speakers . Sometimes all the way up depending if I'm Jamming on a good song . And now with the 4-2-4's , I actually haven't had to increase the volume up but maybe 1-2 more on the controls . But to say that I have louder pipes now , I self inflicted the higher noise level through the pipes and in return , raising the volume . On a casual day , I still run at previous volume prior to the 4-2-4's.

Too add , I run a shorty helmet with homemade helmet speaker pockets only over the ears with a slight gap between them .

My main concern was for the wife . She has made no complaint about the louder pipes , even on long trips . Only commented that it appeared that we were in a large group ride by ourselves .
