  1. I like the studded Yamaha tank bra with 2 pouches....but for $200 it seems awfully expensive to basically hold my garage door opener....anything else besides the Hopnel that is nice?
  2. Thanks for the replies and pics...I was afraid something was wrong but sounds like this is common. I'll look into figuring how to tighten it up a bit.. Thanks
  3. Checked everything out.....ordered fuel filter, got a jug of premix coolant, plugged AIS, have Castrol fullnsyntjetic 4T and K&N 303 filter, Mobil 1 75/90 for final drive....also got Ivans Jet kit and having Yamaha mechanic install that and sync carbs, gonna have some things greased as well....everything has been done.....receipts for oil changes every 1000 miles, plugs have been changed out twice by dealer, EBC HH rear brake pads, flushed clutch fluid, and lots of other stuff.... I will go ahead and flush front and rear brakes and clutch with fresh Prestone Synthetic DOT 4 as well. Tires have 3k on them (Dunlop Elite), and everything runs and drives fine. Can't wait till good weather.
  4. I was adjusting my warm idle speed and set it at the lower end of spec... 950 rpm. I noticed when I was adjusting up and down that 700-800 rpm sounded a lot better than 950 rpm. I know oil pressure is affected by idle speed.....wanted to know how "low" can I go and still have appropriate oil pressure... 2002 RSV Midnight
  5. I bought POR 15 engine paint....had great luck with POR 15 rust preventative in the past
  6. Will do....new to this site and didn't know about this type of auction..
  7. I'm planning on the water proof 4in Polk and a Rockford amp....just unsure of what kind of head unit....
  8. Lol...I even used chrome polish on the trunk rack (as well as all the other chrome) yesterday.... Still investigating stereo options. I did remove the stock antennas and have 2 ft black firesticks coming.
  9. I ordered some FS-2 Firestik 2 fr black antennaes. Apparently I will need adapter studs to go from 3/8 X 24 from the male on the Firestik to the 8mm female on the antenna base of the bike. Firestik sells them but they want $19.99 each plus shipping g. Any place to get these adapters cheaper?
  10. I washed and dried my RSV today....just trailered it home yesterday. I checked most bolts...put loctite where it should have been...checked fluids.....set radio stations...removed both antennas (ordered firestik 2ft)...Lubed all locks and latches etc....set tire pressure 38 front and 41 rear....checked gas tank cap screws...generally inspected whole bike... I noticed that the chrome visor above the headlight is loose and I can turn it left and right by hand. Is this normal and if not how do I fix it? The winshield chrome trim. Is also fairly looks and can be moved a bit. Is this normal and if not how do I fix? Thanks
  11. So is the right or left antenna the one for the radio? Is it a big deal to remove the cb equipment from the bike? Will the firesticks work well for the radio part? Any special thread size I need or adapters or are they pretty universal?
  12. Amp is ARC AUDIO KS 125.4 The rack I am definitely keeping...the PO got it from the dealership so I assume it's OEM but not sure.
  13. I'm in Ft. Wayne and just got my RSV yesterday...currently a Roadstar rider and been on the RSC since March 2016.
  14. Where can I buy some touch up black engine paint for my 2002 Yamaha Royal Star Venture Midnight? I am very detail oriented and see a couple of spots i would like to touch up. Thanks
  15. Just want a better sounding and louder/cleaner sound....Rockford Fosgate 300 amp probably...betterbapeakers...etc Is the other antenna for the stereo? Thanks for the input.
  16. just got home with my new to me 2002 midnight royal star venture and will have extra parts I do not need. I was wanting input on if they're worth selling or simply pitching. The previous owner upgraded the stereo speakers and installed an amplifier. I will likely be redoing the sound system again and will have the stock speakers the stock tape player the stock controller the aftermarket speakers and the aftermarket amplifier that I will no longer need in addition to the two masked CB antennas. Is there much of a market for this stuff and should I post it here and on Craigslist and what would be a reasonable price to ask for everything? Thanks for the input. http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq14/sbojrab/Mobile%20Uploads/12650822_1091630884202582_6904204535737357504_n_zpsfupdmqlg.jpg
  17. What are some good water proof head units that easily for intonstock opening....something with CD player aux USB etc....? What speakers are popular to replace factory speakers? Amps? Just looking for some ideas for the future.
  18. Good to know....thanks ....I know the plugs were replaced once allready So i should be fine.
  19. 2002 Midnight 14 k .miles picking up tomorrow so I don't have it to look at now.....I have done some research and still have a couple unanswered questions... Mobil 1 75/90 synthetic gear oil for final gear? Are coil wires themselves replaceable or are they built into coils like on my Roadstar? Brake fluod for brakes and clutch? Any need for Iridium plugs vs lain NGK? Do I need to remove anything g to replace plugs (i.e. like gas tank on my Roadstar)? Are their actual zerk style grease fittings or just pivot points? When washing anything to cover up? Thanks
  20. Well I finally found my bike....picking it up in Ohio tomorrow. 2002 RSV Midnigjt with tons of extras and only 14k miles on it...31 pages of receipts from dealership for service and add ons.....perfect shape. Pretty excited to add this to my 200 Roadstar.
  21. Great...that is the kind of info I was looking for. Need to figure out how much $ I'll be spending on parts if I want to make it like new. Luckily tires are only 2 years old. When I I got my Roadstar I changed all fluids and filters...plugs...etc when I first got it (had 10k miles on it). I would do the same but wasn't familiar with shaft drive and the cooling system, etc. Also it seems like the V twin is a more basic and simple design than the V4....

  23. I am new to bikes this year and have put 6k miles on my 2002 Roadstar and have done most all the maintenance and mods to it myself. I have done some research and found that the rear shock can leak on RSV bikes. Other than the normal test ride, check brakes shifting etc anything to look at specifically on a 2004 with 50k miles? Wil it likely need front fork fluid if not allready done? Any issues with the shaft drive? Any bearings that would need replaced/greased at this mileage? How about clutch life on these bikes? Any input would be appreciated...
