  2. OK, my wire loop kick tab broke off my side stand, which looks like a common problem. I saw broken side stands for sale on ebay. Bike is a 1996 Royal Start Tour Delux. Bike came from an estate and shows 21K miles. Owner passed on about one year ago. It appears I must remove the shift linkage so that the side stand bolt has enough clearance to come out. Also looks like I wont have to remove the left front exhaust header heat shield. The shift rod looks like a normal ball and socket, I suspect there is a retaining clip under that rubber cover? Are my observations correct? How tough is that spring? Has anyone replaced or repaired their side stand? Shared thoughts are welcome. I do not have a service manual. Thank you.
