  1. I notice a lot of folks have maps with the states they have visited marked on them. Where might one locate this feature?
  2. I had a problem with the front brake lever sticking on my 2000 RSV. The lever moved smoothly for a bit then seemed to stick. When I applied more pressure it would suddenly move way to much and make the bike nose dive badly. After finding a post here saying to put a dab of grease between the adjustment screw on the lever and the plunger it pushes on, I took the lever off. This was the problem. The rough end of the adjustment screw had worn a rough groove in the plunger. I used a dremel tool to sand and buff the end of the screw to a mirror shine then lightly sanded the plunger to remove the groove. I then coated the surface with a light coat of anti-seize (I had some handy and thought I would give it a try. Grease would probably work just as well or maybe even better.) Now the brake works properly. The plunger is evidently made of aluminum and the screw is steel. Guess who wins that battle. I think that when it starts to wear a new groove which I am confident it will eventually, I will try to epoxy a thin steel disc to the plunger so it will have steel on steel. I am thinking this should fix the problem forever.
  3. Anyone here in west TN good with maintenance? My 2000 RSV has 30K and I am wondering if all of the recommended maintenance is necessary or is some of it just a way to get more money into the dealer. I bought the bike used with 20K and, as far as I know, oil changes and tires are all that has been done to it. I am fairly mechanically inclined and have always done most of my own maintenance but getting some input and/or help from someone who has been there always makes things go more smoothly. the bike is running fine and is stock except for HD mufflers.
  4. I stumbled on this site a few weeks back and started looking around. Found some threads about using Road King mufflers on the Venture. I picked up a set Friday at a local shop for $35 and installed them Saturday. Installation was simple thanks to a picture of a mounting bracket on one of the posts here (I had a nice piece of 1/4" aluminum that had been laying around just waiting for a bike ride) and the muffler expander from the Autozone loan a tool program. They sound great. Just enough growl without being too loud. I do have one question for those who may know more about HD mufflers than I do, what does the baffle structure look like in a stock bagger muffler? When I look into these from the tail end I see about 4 inches of pipe perforated with small holes and closed on the other end. When I look in from the header end it is just one large open chamber with the afore mentioned pipe in the other end. Is this stock or has someone removed part of the baffle system?
