So after nearly a month I finally fixed the issues with my RSTD.

Replaced and relocated the fuel filter after fighting to get it out of the original position, what a poorly thought out placement for something that requires changing annually or every couple of years. Piss poor design!

As for the sputtering and loss of acceleration power, turns out the huge, ugly air box wasn't properly attached.

The bike is running better now than it did last year when I first purchased it.

On top of increased power no more decel backfiring beyond what might be expected. I'll fine tune the air/fuel mix to see if I can rid it completely.

Also now have to reset idle. With the repairs it's reving a bit to high at idle.
