Hi Folks,

I just joined this morning, and have a question for you guys regarding VIN lookup, pretty sure I'm posting in the right section, hoping so anyway!

I've owned many bikes thru the years, never a Yamaha, and I have no idea why! Always wanted one, it just never worked out. Few years back I was very impressed when looking at a 2005 Royal Star. Right at the moment, with 3 kids in college, an older bike is the best way to go for me. I found one that looks great, but am getting conflicting reports when I do an online VIN search...

For now just using the free versions of VIN lookup, but they are conflicting....looking up a Royal Star Venture, 2007 model. Some of the sites ask me to enter a "valid" vin #. Some of these sites say it's a model XV1600 with a 1602cc engine. (I thought all Ventures had the 1294 cc engine?) One says it's a Royal Star Midnight Venture. So these sites are all over the board with conflicting information.

So my question, is there any one dependable site to look up a VIN number and get correct info? Paid or not is fine. I just want to be sure the bike I'm looking at has not been in any accidents, make sure it has a clean title, etc.

Any help or tips you can give me would certainly be a huge help! Looking forward to being a Venture owner...Thank you...

Try getting a quote online for insurance. You will need to enter the VIN. All big online insurance sites will take the VIN and automatically enter the model info for you.
